Idaho State rallies to beat Santa Clara 68-66
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Kelvin Jones scored 14 of his 20 points in the final 10 minutes and Idaho State overcame a 14-point, second-half deficit to beat Santa Clara 68-66 on Friday night.
Jones finished Jared Stutzman's drive-and-dish with 17.8 seconds left to give the Bengals (4-3) their first lead in over 15 minutes at 67-66. Tahj Eaddy missed a floater for the Broncos (3-6) with four seconds left. Jones was fouled after grabbing the rebound and made 1 of 2 free throws to cap the scoring.
Santa Clara gets 1st win of season, 71-63 over San Jose St.
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Tahj Eaddy set career highs Saturday with six 3-pointers and 23 points and Santa Clara got its first win of the season 71-63 over San Jose State.
The Broncos (1-4) trailed by as many as nine early before taking control with a 15-5 run to end the first half up 38-35. Santa Clara never trailed in the second half.
Ferrari, Ratinho lead San Francisco past Santa Clara, 70-59
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Frankie Ferrari had 19 points and Jordan Ratinho scored 17 to help San Francisco beat Santa Clara 70-59 on Saturday night.
Ferrari and Ratinho combined to shoot 14 of 23 from the field, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range. Matt McCarthy added 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting for USF (13-12, 5-7 West Coast Conference).
Kratch, Santa Clara stun Pepperdine with 106-55 win
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Nate Kratch had a career-high 32 points on 13-of-16 shooting and Santa Clara set a school record with 22 3-pointers to beat Pepperdine 106-55 on Thursday night.
Kratch made 5 of 7 from 3-point range for the Broncos (15-13, 9-6), who set a record for win margin against a West Coast Conference opponent and reached the 100-point mark for the first time against a Division I foe in nine years.
Santa Clara handles San Francisco 72-58
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — KJ Feagin scored 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting and Jared Brownridge scored 20 to lead Santa Clara to a 72-58 win over San Francisco on Saturday.
Feagin was 4 for 5 from 3-point range and Santa Clara (7-8, 1-1) as a team was 50 percent from 3 on 13-for-26 shooting. Nate Kratch added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Broncos.
Spencer’s 15 leads Tennessee State past Santa Clara 69-61
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Reserve Delano Spencer led a balanced attack with 15 points and Tennessee State won the 50th Cable Car Classic with a 69-61 win over host Santa Clara on Sunday.
The Tigers (3-0), off to their best start since 1994-95, got 12 points from Wayne Martin, 11 from Jordan Reed and 10 apiece from Tahjere McCall and Darreon Reddick.
