Smith scores 25, Georgia Southern beats Texas State 81-77
SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Ike Smith scored 25 points with five 3-pointers, Tookie Brown scored all of his 16 points in the second half, and third-place Georgia Southern beat Texas State 81-77 on Saturday to split the season series.
Mike Hughes scored 19 points for the Eagles (18-11, 9-7 Sun Belt Conference), who hit 10 3s and shot 54.9 percent from the field.
Simonds finishes strong as Georgia St. beats Texas St. 54-50
ATLANTA (AP) — D'Marcus Simonds scored eight of his 20 points in the final minute as Georgia State rallied to slip past Texas State 54-50 in a battle for second place in the Sun Belt Conference on Saturday afternoon.
Georgia State (16-6, 7-2) trails only Louisiana in the conference standings.
Simonds outscored Texas State 8-2 in the final 1:25 as he hit a jumper and a layup for a 50-48 lead with 57 seconds left. He then made four straight free throws to cap the scoring and seal the win.
Louisiana throttles Texas St. 80-55 behind barrage of 3s
SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Malik Marquetti scored 19 points, Frank Bartley IV and Justin Miller each scored 14, and Louisiana strengthened its grip atop the Sun Belt Conference with an 80-55 win against Texas State on Saturday.
Louisiana (17-3, 7-0) sits 1½ games ahead of second place Texas State (13-8, 6-2) and has won seven straight and 14 of its last 15. The loss snapped the Bobcats' six-game win streak.
Texas St holds off UL Monroe 55-52

Peacock’s only basket wins it for Texas State 72-70
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Alex Peacock made his only field goal count, hitting a long, buzzer-beating jumper to lift Texas State to a 72-70 victory over Little Rock on Saturday night.
Peacock's winner came after Little Rock (5-14, 2-4 Sun Belt) tied the game after scoring on Andre Jones' 3-pointer with 14 seconds left and, after a Bobcats turnover, an Oliver Black dunk with five seconds remaining.
Texas State holds on to beat Arkansas State 73-67
JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Tre'Larenz Nottingham had 17 points and Nijal Pearson added 13 with 10 rebounds as Texas State held on for a 73-67 Sun Belt Conference win over Arkansas State on Thursday night.
Nottingham hit 3 of 7 from distance while dishing out five assists with two steals. Pearson, who had his second double-double this season, also had two steals. Immanuel King was 5 of 8 from the floor for 13 points with six rebounds for Texas State (11-7, 4-1), which has won four straight.
Peacock’s putback sends Texas St. past Troy 57-56
SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Alex Peacock's lay-in off an offensive rebound with four seconds to play lifted Texas State to a 57-56 win against Troy on Saturday.
After Troy called timeout, B.J. Miller drove a wide-open lane but missed his layup at the buzzer.
Peacock, Texas State hold off South Alabama 72-69
SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Alex Peacock scored 18 points and his layup with 26 seconds remaining preserved Texas State's 72-69 win against South Alabama on Thursday night.
Rodrick Sikes made two free throws to narrow South Alabama's deficit to 70-69 before Peacock's layup. Texas State called timeout and Sikes missed a 3-point attempt. The Jaguars got the offensive rebound but Josh Ajayi missed his attempt.
King has double-double, Texas State routs Ecclesia 85-43
SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Immanuel King scored 14 points and grabbed a career-best 13 rebounds to lead Texas State in an 85-43 rout of Ecclesia on Tuesday night.
King was 7 of 12 from the field. Alex Peacock and Nijal Pearson each added 11 points for Texas State (6-6), which snapped a two-game losing skid.
Milacio Freeland scored 12 points to lead Ecclesia, which was 13-of-64 shooting (20 percent).
Adams scores 17, Texas State beats D-III McMurry 100-50
SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Freshman Shelby Adams led five Texas State players in double figures with a career-high 17 points and the Bobcats beat Division III McMurry 100-50 on Wednesday night.
Adams was 5-of-7 shooting and added a career-best five steals. It was Texas State's highest-scoring game since a 103-76 win over Houston Baptist on Dec. 3, 2011.

Texas State upsets UTA in Sun Belt semifinals 83-62
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Bobby Conley scored 16 points and Immanuel King scored 11 of his 13 in the first half when Texas State built a nine-point lead and went on to upset top-seeded UT Arlington 83-62 on Saturday.
Nijal Pearson added 14 points, Kavin Tilbury-Gilder 12 and Nedeljko Prijovic 11 for the fourth-seeded Bobcats (20-12), who will play No. 6 seed Troy for the conference championship on Sunday. Texas State shot 53 percent.

Nijal Pearson scored 15 points, Bobby Conley had 13, and Immanuel King and Ojai Black each chipped in 12 for the Bobcats (10-7, 3-2 Sun Belt), who have won five of seven.
Texas State beats Appalachian St. 67-58 to open conference
SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Kavin Gilder-Tilbury hit 7 of 9 from the floor for 21 points to lead Texas State to a 67-58 win over Appalachian State on Saturday to open Sun Belt Conference play for both teams.
Gilder-Tilbury, who broke the 1,000 career-points barrier, now has 1,019 points. Nijal Pearson added 11 points and Ojai Black chipped in 10 while dishing out five assists for the Bobcats (8-5, 1-0).
