Wickens suffered severe injuries in an Aug. 19 crash at Pocono that included a thoracic spinal fracture and a fractured neck.

Roger Penske, from his perch at the Belle Isle race track in Detroit, the governor of Michigan by his side, summed it up smartly after one of General Motors' top executives crashed a 2019 Corvette and delayed the start of the Detroit Grand Prix.
"Come to the races," Penske said. "You'll see anything."
DETROIT (AP) — Roger Penske rolls into this weekend's IndyCar races at Belle Isle on the heels of another Indianapolis 500 win.
He's not expecting the Detroit Grand Prix to be any sort of ceremonial victory lap.
"You win an Indy 500, you go to the next race, you're kind of the king of the hill for a while," Penske said. "But you get put down pretty quickly, because you're back, you're racing the same guys again. It's a new venue."
DETROIT (AP) — Will Power spoke calmly and nonchalantly. It was hard to tell if he was trying to keep an even keel or if he was just exhausted.
"You have to just try to keep the emotion as low as possible because you use so much when you are racing, so trying to keep these next two days as low as I can," Power said Thursday. "I'm not a hyper type of person."
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Police say a man found dead in a parking lot outside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was from Illinois.

Body found in tent a day after Indianapolis 500
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Police say a man's body has been found in a tent at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The body was found Monday at a tent in a parking area, a day after the Indianapolis 500 car race. WISH-TV says it's an area where fans typically park for the weekend.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The new version of the IndyCar that made its Indianapolis 500 debut on Sunday was hard to drive in traffic, difficult to pass and so squirrely in the corners that some of the sport's biggest names found an unceremonious end to their day in the wall.
For the most part, though, the throwback look was met with positive reviews.
SYDNEY (AP) — Two drivers from Down Under — thousands of miles apart and even further from home — unexpectedly found themselves parked together atop the motor racing world after winning the two biggest races in the sport Sunday.
Just hours after Daniel Ricciardo won the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix around the narrow streets of Monte Carlo, his countryman Will Power won the Indianapolis 500, becoming the first Australian to win the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" and sharing in a unique double.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Will Power lost three consecutive championships before he decided a change was in order.
He knew he must improve on oval tracks to be considered among the best in racing.
If there was any doubt how serious Power was about his turnaround, he settled it Sunday by winning on the biggest oval of them all.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — As some of the biggest names in the Indianapolis 500 crashed into the wall, and the rest of IndyCar's stars struggled to make a move, Alexander Rossi stepped on the gas and went right to the front.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Two prestigious, 500-mile races. Two hard crashes. Two back-of-the-pack finishes.
The "Danica Double" was mostly a dud.
Danica Patrick ended the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday much like she did the Daytona 500 in February: With a ride to the infield care center and feelings of frustration.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Unusually warm temperatures took a toll on everyone at the Indianapolis 500.
More than 150 fans sought treatment at the infield medical center at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for heat-related problems Sunday. Drivers and teams had to rethink race strategy based on tire wear. Roger Penske even brought a special fan to help keep his pit crews cool on one of the hottest days in race history.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Helio Castroneves and Sebastien Bourdais each tried to make the most of a rare passing opportunity during the second half of Sunday's Indianapolis 500.
Tony Kanaan and Danica Patrick, they spun out and crashed, too.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Will Power hated racing on ovals. He wasn't a fan of Indianapolis Motor Speedway and figured he would never win the Indianapolis 500.
That kind of attitude doesn't fly when you drive for Roger Penske.
Power had to change his thinking and his performance on oval tracks. He learned to respect the speedway. And the 37-year-old Power is now a winner of one of the biggest races in the world.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Ed Carpenter spends the entire year thinking about the Indianapolis 500, even though he runs a full-time IndyCar effort with other drivers in the seat the rest of the year.
The race is quite literally in his blood: He is the stepson of Tony George, whose family has owned Indianapolis Motor Speedway for decades and who founded the Indy Racing League in the 1990s.
That explains why Carpenter had such a hard time processing things Sunday.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Danica Patrick trudged out of the infield care center with her head down, mirrored sunglasses covering the disappointment in her eyes.
There was no hiding it in her voice.
"It was definitely not the way that I wanted it to end," she said softly.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Danica Patrick loves good omens.
She learned of a couple of them Saturday that could bode well for her in the Indianapolis 500.
The popular if polarizing Patrick, who will be racing for the final time Sunday, spent the morning signing autographs alongside Scott Dixon and Helio Castroneves at the racetrack. The trio will make up the third row when the green flag drops, with Patrick starting on the inside.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The screaming yellow firesuit made Helio Castroneves easy to find at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The glowing smile didn't hurt, either.
Castroneves is wrapping up another May at his favorite race track and getting another chance Sunday at a record-tying fourth Indianapolis 500 victory. The Brazilian has a seat as a favor from Roger Penske, because when the boss needed Castroneves to anchor his new sports car team, the company man agreed.
