NEW YORK (AP) — Irad Ortiz Jr. rode his 2,000th career winner, guiding Gambler's Fallacy in the sixth race at Belmont Park.
The 26-year-old jockey notched the milestone on Saturday. It was his 1,910th winner in the continental U.S. to go with 90 in his native Puerto Rico.
Good Magic the favorite for Travers Stakes
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Good Magic, the Kentucky Derby runner-up who was fourth in the Preakness, is the favorite for Saturday's $1.25 million Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.
A field of 11 was entered Tuesday for the 149th edition of the 1 1/4-mile Midsummer Derby, the longest running major race in the country.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Diversify won the $1.2 million Whitney by 3 1/2 lengths over Mind Your Biscuits in the slop Saturday at Saratoga.
Ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., Diversify ran 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.62 and paid $5.20 to win as the 8-5 favorite in the eight-horse field.
The Grade 1 victory gave Diversify, trained by Rick Violette Jr., an automatic berth in the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic at Churchill Downs in November.

Saratoga season ends with record-breaking total handle
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — The Saratoga thoroughbred racing season has ended with a record-breaking amount wagered over the 40-day meet at the historic upstate New York track.
The New York Racing Association says Saratoga Race Course set a record for all-sources wagering with a total handle of more than $676.7 million. That's 4.4 percent higher than the previous record, set in 2015.
NYRA says the on-track handle from all sources was $157 million, a 3.4 percent increase over last season.
Indulgent makes it 3 in a row in Aqueduct feature
NEW YORK (AP) — Indulgent extended her winning streak to three with a one-length victory Thursday in the $69,000 allowance feature for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.
The 6-5 favorite got the win with a strong late run. Seventh turning for home, Indulgent and jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. angled out to the middle of the track to launch the bid.
The time was 1:12.25 for the six furlongs. Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, Indulgent paid $4.50, $3.40 and $2.40.
Chief Lion wins Big A feature, trainer Jacobson finishes 1-2
NEW YORK (AP) — Chief Lion beat Great Stuff by a length on Friday, giving trainer David Jacobson a 1-2 finish in the $78,000 allowance feature at Aqueduct.
The 4-5 favorite, Chief Lion set the pace for his ninth win in 34 starts. The gray 6-year-old gelding ran the six furlongs in 1:11.26.
It was one of four victories on the card for jockey Irad Ortiz Jr.
John’s Island ends 0-for-12 skid by winning Big A feature
NEW YORK (AP) — John's Island ended a 12-race losing streak with a three-quarter length victory over True Bet in the $59,000 allowance feature Thursday for New York breds at Aqueduct.
The 5-year-old gelding's previous win came at Aqueduct on March 26, 2015. This time, he rallied five wide in the mud at the top of the stretch and pulled in front in the final 70 yards.
Irad Ortiz Jr. was aboard for the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:18.89.

NEW YORK (AP) — Irad Ortiz Jr. rode four winners Sunday at Aqueduct, including Mighty Moses in the $67,000 allowance feature.
Mighty Moses won for the second time in nine starts and completed the mile in 1:37.63 for a one-length victory.
Unbridled Juan rallies to take Aqueduct feature
NEW YORK (AP) — Unbridled Juan rallied to beat Fabulous Kid by three-quarters of a length Friday in the $78,000 allowance feature at Aqueduct.
The victory extended one streak, and snapped another. The gray 4-year-old trained by Jimmy Jerkens improved to 4-5-5, hitting the board in all 14 starts.
The win also ended a run of three straight loses, all as the odds-on favorite.
Irad Ortiz Jr rides 4 winners at Aqueduct
NEW YORK (AP) — Irad Ortiz Jr. won four races at Aqueduct Thursday, including the $69,000 allowance feature aboard Bishop's Pond.
Ortiz guided the 4-year-old to a front-running victory in the 1 3/8 miles race for fillies and mares on the turf,Bishop's Pond held off Stay the Night by a half length for her third win in 17 starts.
The time was 2:20.96 over the firm course.
Bishop's Pond paid $8.40, $3.50 and $2.80.
Shaman Ghost is scratched from Breeders’ Cup Classic
ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Shaman Ghost has been scratched from the $6 million Classic at the Breeders' Cup.
The assistant to trainer Jimmy Jerkens said Saturday the horse spiked a temperature overnight and didn't eat all his feed, knocking him out of the showcase race of the two-day world championships at Santa Anita.

The gray 4-year-old trained by Chad Brown angled five-wide at the top of the stretch and surged to a 3 1/4-length victory over Blame It On Me.
Royal Posse wins Empire Classic in the slop at Belmont Park
NEW YORK (AP) — Royal Posse won the $300,000 Empire Classic, the richest of the eight stakes for New York breds on Saturday at Belmont Park.
The program, billed as Empire Showcase Day, was contested on a sloppy track.
Royal Posse extended his winning streak to three with a 3 1/2-length win over 6/5 favorite Governor Malibu.
The 5-year-old gelding paid $7.90 to win. The time was 1:52.15 for 1 1/8 miles.
Mrs McDougal sets the pace in Belmont’s Noble Damsel Stakes
NEW YORK (AP) — Mrs McDougal led all the way Saturday in the $200,000 Noble Damsel Stakes for fillies and mares on the turf at Belmont Park.
The 4-year-old beat Zindaya by two lengths, giving trainer Chad Brown a 1-2 finish.
"Both fillies ran really well," Brown said. "We talked about Mrs McDougal going to the lead. There was no clear frontrunner in the race."
Irad Ortiz Jr. was aboard as Mrs McDougal improved to 5 for 11 with her biggest victory since the 2015 Lake George Stakes at Saratoga.
