Jets struggle on offense in 24-10 loss to Bears
CHICAGO (AP) — Sam Darnold and the New York Jets did a good job of protecting the ball.
They just didn't do very much when they had it.
Playing without two of its top receivers, New York managed just 207 yards in a 24-10 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Darnold passed for a career-low 153 yards in his eighth NFL start, and Isaiah Crowell was the Jets' top rusher with a measly 25 yards on 13 carries.
Just a quiet, ho-hum sort of day for everyone in green-and-white.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have signed running back De'Angelo Henderson from the practice squad, adding much-needed depth to their backfield.

The Jets also announced Saturday they released cornerback Juston Burris.
Broncos star linebacker promises to whoop Cardinals
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Von Miller, who once said his job was to sack quarterbacks and tell jokes, isn't in a jocular mood with the Denver Broncos mired in a monthlong funk.
During his weekly news conference Tuesday, Miller repeatedly promised that the Broncos (2-4) would whoop the Cardinals (1-5) Thursday night in Arizona.

DENVER (AP) — Not the wintry weather nor the Denver Broncos' spongy defense could slow down Todd Gurley .
The Rams running back rumbled for a career-high 208 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries and Los Angeles celebrated defensive coordinator Wade Phillips' homecoming Sunday with a 23-20 win over the reeling Denver Broncos.
Jets’ Crowell looks to build off record-setting performance
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Isaiah Crowell kept hitting the holes cleared by the New York Jets' offensive line and ran.
And, ran some more.
All the way into the franchise record books.
Crowell rushed for a whopping 219 yards on just 15 carries in the Jets' 34-16 victory over Denver last Sunday, setting the team mark for yards rushing in a single game.
Jets’ Buster Skrine out, Trumaine Johnson doubtful vs. Colts
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets' secondary will be without a few key members against the Indianapolis Colts.
Cornerback Buster Skrine has been ruled out for Sunday with a concussion. Fellow cornerback Trumaine Johnson is listed Friday as doubtful with a quadriceps injury that sidelined him last Sunday against Denver.

Crowell, big-play Jets romp past Broncos 34-16
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Isaiah Crowell ran all over the Denver Broncos' suddenly leaky defense — and kept his touchdown celebration low-key this time around.
Broncos’ defense wilts vs. Jets: ‘This is not who we are’
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Von Miller simply couldn't believe this was the Denver Broncos' defense.
Neither could Chris Harris Jr., Shane Ray or anyone else on that side of the ball.
A 34-16 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday in which they allowed 512 yards — including a whopping 323 on the ground — had the Broncos wondering what went wrong.
"We're usually a pretty stout defense," Miller said. "Today, we weren't. We got gashed over the top two or three times today. Yeah, it was a rough one."

Bengals defense needs to tighten up for Ben, Brown & Bell
CINCINNATI (AP) — The Bengals' defense allowed the winless Browns only 16 points and came away thinking: This can't happen again.
The points weren't the problem. Cleveland piled up 405 yards as Isaiah Crowell ran for a season-high 95 yards and rookie DeShone Kizer threw for a career-high 268 yards. The Browns' penchant for self-destruction prevented them from getting more points.
As the Bengals (5-6) watched video of their 30-16 win at Paul Brown Stadium, they couldn't help but wince.

LONDON (AP) — The Cleveland Browns have their first halftime lead of the season after DeShone Kizer put them up 13-12 against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at Twickenham.

Payday: Browns’ Crowell wants ball more, contract extension
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — While Isaiah Crowell is running, his mind is racing.
As hard as he tries not to focus on his contract situation with the Browns, Cleveland's leading rusher said there's barely a moment when he's not thinking about a future payday.
"During the game, after the game, before the game, right now, all the time," he said Wednesday. "It's just obvious to think about."
Steelers’ Tomlin: Injured DE Tuitt could play vs. Vikings
PITTSBURGH (AP) — The anxiety among the Pittsburgh Steelers after defensive end Stephon Tuitt left two plays into their season-opening win over Cleveland with a left biceps injury has been replaced by something else: optimism.

Crowell remains calm in final year of contract

Browns place second-round tender on RB Isaiah Crowell
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Browns have placed a second-round free-agent tender on running back Isaiah Crowell.
The tender — worth $2.8 million — would allow the Browns to match any contract offer Crowell might get from another team. If the Browns decided not to match an outside offer, they would receive a compensatory second-round draft pick for Crowell.
The 24-year-old rushed for 952 yards and scored seven touchdowns last season, and was one of the few bright spots as Cleveland went 1-15.
