Grizzlies’ Bickerstaff comments on Parsons’ potential return
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Memphis Grizzlies coach J.B. Bickerstaff says Chandler Parsons will be treated like any other player amid reports that the forward will rejoin his teammates after the All-Star break.
The comments come a month after general manager Chris Wallace said Parsons had chosen to continue his rehabilitation in Los Angeles, putting his future with Memphis in doubt.
Grizzlies’ Gasol out against Timberwolves amid trade talk
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol was a late scratch for Tuesday night's home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves as trade chatter for the veteran accelerated.
Gasol was not listed on Memphis' injured list earlier in the day, but coach J.B. Bickerstaff announced he would not play. Asked to elaborate on the reason for Gasol's absence, Bickerstaff declined.
Irving scores 38 points, Celtics beat Grizzlies 122-116
BOSTON (AP) — Kyrie Irving's 20-point third quarter wasn't quite enough for the Boston Celtics to put away the Memphis Grizzlies.
The star guard scored eight more in the fourth, finishing with 38 points and 11 assists while leading the Celtics to a 122-116 victory Friday night.
"He was able to pick his spots and make plays," Boston coach Brad Stevens said. "I thought it was a patient, really good, smart attack by him."
Griffin has 26 points, leads Pistons past Grizzlies 101-94
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — In the closing minutes of a four-game trip, the Detroit Pistons had enough energy to end the journey on a good note.
With a 13-0 run in the fourth quarter, the Pistons built a double-digit lead and snapped their three-game losing streak with a 101-94 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.
Green’s 24 points lifts Grizzlies past Pelicans, 107-103
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — JaMychal Green's move to a reserve role since coming back from his broken jaw seems to suit the Memphis forward.
Green scored six of his season-high 24 points during a late comeback and the Grizzlies beat the New Orleans Pelicans 107-103 on Friday night.
The fourth-year pro out of Alabama has posted season highs in points in consecutive games, having scored 19 in a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.
Gasol, Grizzlies hold off Bucks late for 116-113 win
MILWAUKEE (AP) — In a game of runs between teams with contrasting styles, Memphis made the last, defining push.
Marc Gasol scored 29 points, Mike Conley added 26 and the grind-it-out Grizzlies held off the up-tempo Bucks 116-113 on Wednesday night, handing Milwaukee its first home loss of the season.
It's a nice way for Memphis to start a busy stretch of four games in six nights.
Gasol, Conley lead Grizzlies to easy win over Suns 117-96
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Despite a bit of a youth movement, it's still the Marc Gasol and Mike Conley show for the Memphis Grizzlies — with a good amount of defense mixed in.
Memphis, held Phoenix to 46 percent shooting, including the Suns connecting on only 9 of 33 shots outside the arc in a 117-96 victory Saturday night.
Temple, Jackson Jr. lead Grizzlies past Hawks 131-117
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies' newcomers made a fine first impression on the home crowd.
Garrett Temple, picked up in a trade from Sacramento, scored 30 points, rookie Jaren Jackson Jr. added 24 as the Grizzlies built a first-half lead and coasted to a 131-117 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.

Grizzlies ready to erase painful memories of last season
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Mike Conley and the Memphis Grizzlies want to make very clear that what happened last season was an aberration.
Conley and the rest of the Grizzlies — yes even oft-injured Chandler Parsons — are reporting for training camp healthy and ready to erase the memories of that painful and ugly 60-loss season.
"Now we're back both feet planted, and we give ourselves just as good of a shot as anybody," Conley said Monday.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies have named Jerry Stackhouse, Nick Van Exel and six others as assistant coaches.
Coach J.B. Bickerstaff says his staff will emphasize "discipline, grit, physical and mental toughness." Along with Stackhouse and Van Exel, it will include Chad Forcier, Greg Buckner, Vitaly Potapenko and Adam Mazarei as assistants and J.J. Outlaw and Kevin Burleson as assistant coaches for player development.
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Knicks have hired former NBA coach Keith Smart and three others as assistants on David Fizdale's coaching staff.
Jud Buechler, Pat Sullivan and Royal Ivey were also added Thursday to join Fizdale, who was hired last month to replace Jeff Hornacek.
Smart coached Cleveland, Golden State and Sacramento and was most recently an assistant to Fizdale, and later J.B. Bickerstaff, in Memphis. He also was an assistant along with Fizdale in Miami, working under Erik Spoelstra.

Grizzlies’ Tyreke Evans to undergo MRI on injured ribs
MIAMI (AP) — Memphis Grizzlies guard Tyreke Evans will undergo a precautionary MRI Sunday on injured right ribs that forced him to miss their game at Miami.
Coach J.B. Bickerstaff said he doesn't anticipate a long absence for Evans, who is averaging a team-high 19.4 points per game.
Evans left Friday's game against Cleveland in the fourth quarter because of the injury. Jarell Martin started for Evans against Miami on Saturday night.
Grizzlies coach Bickerstaff gets $25,000 fine from NBA
NEW YORK (AP) — Memphis Grizzlies coach J.B. Bickerstaff has been fined $25,000 by the NBA for directing inappropriate comments toward a game official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner after an ejection.
The NBA announced the fine on Friday.
Bickerstaff was ejected with 7:41 remaining in the Grizzlies' 92-88 home loss to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday.
Schroder’s 22 points lead Hawks past struggling Grizzlies
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks enjoyed a rare blowout that left the Memphis Grizzlies fuming about their failure to answer the challenge.
Dennis Schroder scored 22 points and Atlanta beat turnover-plagued Memphis 108-82 on Tuesday night, giving the struggling Grizzlies their fourth straight loss.
The Hawks' biggest lead was 34 points, and Schroder enjoyed the rare opportunity to sit out the final period and watch the final minutes of a runaway victory.

Evans out for Grizzlies as trade speculation swirls
DETROIT (AP) — Tyreke Evans is not with the Memphis Grizzlies for Thursday night's game at Detroit as trade speculation swirls around the veteran guard.
The Grizzlies listed Evans as having an illness, but interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff confirmed before the game that the team isn't likely to play him before the Feb. 8 trade deadline.
Bickerstaff says: "They're involved in conversations, and when those conversations are resolved, a final decision will be made."
Williams leads Clippers past Grizzlies, 113-105
LOS ANGELES (AP) — It's happening with such regularity now, people are just expecting Lou Williams to come off the bench and put up 20-plus points while leading the Los Angeles Clippers to a victory.
Williams did it again Tuesday night, scoring 33 to send the Clippers to their fourth consecutive win, 113-105 over the Memphis Grizzlies.
The standout reserve shot 8 of 15 from the field. Continually driving to the basket, he hit all 15 of his free throws.
Evans 32 points lead Grizzlies past Lakers, 109-99
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tyreke Evans started his career by being voted the NBA's Rookie of the Year in 2010 after averaging 20.1 points for Sacramento.
The next six years were difficult. He battled knee problems and missed games, and his scoring average plummeted to 10.3 points per game last season.
But Evans is finding his game again with Memphis, which the Lakers could attest to after he scored 32 points Wednesday night to lead the Grizzlies to a 109-99 victory over Los Angeles.

Tyreke Evans had 30 points and 11 assists, Marc Gasol had 17 points and a season-high 15 rebounds and Memphis snapped a three-game losing streak with a 115-112 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night.
