MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Shaun Doss had a season-high 25 points as Arkansas-Pine Bluff broke its 10-game road losing streak, defeating Alabama State 75-69 on Saturday.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff did not trail in the second half, but led by just two points, 70-68, with 1:03 remaining. The Golden Lions outscored the Hornets 5-1 in the final minute.

Liberty wins opener over Alabama State at St. Pete Shootout
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Keenan Gumbs scored 14 points and had a game-high seven rebounds and Liberty rode a big first-half lead to a 73-55 victory over Alabama State in the opener of the St. Pete Shootout on Friday.
Saturday, Liberty plays Austin Peay for the tournament title and Alabama State takes on Campbell for third place.

ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) — Reginald Gee scored from in the paint twice in overtime and Alabama State escaped Mississippi Valley State with an 89-85 victory in a Southwestern Conference battle Saturday.
Gee put the Hornets in front with a layup and Jacoby Ross extended the lead to five with a 3-pointer. Terrance LeFlore answered a layup from Dante Scott to keep the lead at five. After Jordan Evans hit from deep, Gee tipped in a missed layup by Ross with :35 left to set the final score.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Jeremiah Jefferson scored 21 points, Paris Collins had 16 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for his second double-double of the season, and Jackson State beat Alabama State 82-73 on Monday night in a Southwestern Athletic Conference opener.
Jefferson and Collins each made three of Jackson State's 11 3-pointers. Jefferson was 9 of 14 from the floor for his third 20-plus game of the season and Collins made 4 of 12 as the Tigers shot 46 percent overall.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Anders Broman scored 19 points and led five players in double-figure scoring as Winthrop kept Alabama State winless with an 88-80 victory on Saturday.
Bjorn Broman added 18 points, shooting 6 of 10 from beyond the arc for the Eagles (6-4), who have won four of their last five. Josh Ferguson had 14 points and led with 13 rebounds for his third double-double this season, Nych Smith had 12 points and Jermaine Ukaegbu had 10 point with nine rebounds.
Savannah State holds off Alabama State rally, 101-97
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Dexter McClanahan scored 17 points off the bench with four 3-pointers, Isaiah Felder and Alante Fenner added 16 apiece, and Savannah State held off Alabama State 101-97 in the mainland edition of the Cayman Islands Challenge on Tuesday night.
The Tigers (2-4) led 45-36 at halftime, but Alabama State (0-6) surged out of the break with a 61-point second half.
Fenner was 10 of 10 at the foul line as Savannah State converted 24 of 34 on two dozen Alabama State fouls.
