One day after adding reinforcements on the offensive line, the Kansas City Chiefs have parted away with a veteran of the group.
The Chiefs released seventh-year offensive lineman Jah Reid.
Reid has played for the Chiefs since 2015, mostly as a tackle on the right side of the line.
Chiefs release OL Jah Reid after acquiring Cam Erving
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs have released veteran offensive lineman Jah Reid before Thursday night's preseason finale against Tennessee, one day after acquiring former first-round pick Cam Erving in a trade with Cleveland.
Most expected Erving to assume the swing tackle job that Reid has held down the past two seasons in Kansas City. The Chiefs ultimately decided to give Reid a better chance to latch on elsewhere by letting him go ahead of Saturday's NFL-mandated roster cuts.
Chiefs down 2 offensive lineman, likely Charles vs Jets
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs will be without starting offensive lineman Parker Ehinger and backup Jah Reid, and likely without star running back Jamaal Charles for Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
Ehinger will miss his second straight game with a concussion. Reid is out with a knee injury.
Meanwhile, Charles was listed as doubtful for the Jets on Friday's injury report, and it is becoming increasingly likely that the four-time Pro Bowl player will not play before the Chiefs' bye.
