St. John’s wins at Georgetown for 1st time since 2003
WASHINGTON (AP) — Shamorie Ponds made six 3-pointers and had 37 points and five assists as St. John's beat Georgetown 97-94 in overtime on Saturday to snap a 13-game losing streak against the Hoyas in the nation's capital.
The Johnnies had lost 13 straight games at Georgetown with its last win on January 18, 2003.
Govan, LeBlanc lead Georgetown past Howard 102-67
WASHINGTON (AP) — Jessie Govan and Josh LeBlanc picked up double-doubles and Georgetown tuned up for conference play by rolling over city rival Howard 102-67 on Saturday.
Govan had 23 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season and LeBlanc had 22 and 11 for the third of his career. Jahvon Blair added 15 points and five assists for the Hoyas (10-3), who open Big East play at Butler on Wednesday.
Foster hits 5 3s, scores 28 as Creighton beats Georgetown
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Marcus Foster buried five 3-pointers and scored 28, Khyri Thomas added 22 points and Creighton remained perfect at home with an 85-77 victory over Georgetown on Saturday night.
Toby Hegner finished with 16 points for the Bluejays (17-5, 7-3 Big East Conference), who have won 14 in a row at home dating to last season.
Govan has 25 points, 12 boards as Georgetown beats DePaul
CHICAGO (AP) — Jessie Govan scored 25 points with 12 rebounds and Marcus Derrickson added 24 points as Georgetown fought off DePaul 90-81 to get its first Big East win of the season on Tuesday night.
Govan had nine of his 17 second-half points in the final 4:45, including four free throws in the final seconds to seal the win. He made 8-of-12 field-goal attempts and was 9 of 12 from the line.
Walker scores 16 in first start, leads Hoyas in 89-49 win
WASHINGTON (AP) — Freshman Antwan Walker, who had scored 10 points all season, made his first start and scored 16 points in Georgetown's 89-49 victory over winless Alabama A&M on Saturday.
Johnson’s 18 helps Hoyas beat Maine 76-55, remain unbeaten
WASHINGTON (AP) — Kaleb Johnson scored 18, leading five into double figures as Georgetown defeated Maine 76-55 on Tuesday for its fifth straight win to start the season.
Jessie Govan scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Hoyas (5-0), Marcus Derrickson scored 12 points and went 6-for-6 at the foul line, Jonathan Mulmore scored 10 points with five assists and Jahvon Blair added 11 points off the bench.
Govan leads Georgetown to another victory, 102-68
WASHINGTON (AP) — Jessie Govan scored 20 points and pulled down 14 rebounds and Georgetown gave new head coach Patrick Ewing another victory, beating Mount St. Mary's 102-68 on Wednesday night.
Govan had 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Hoyas (2-0) in their season-opening victory against Jacksonville. Against the Mountaineers (0-3), he was 7-of-9 shooting and made all three of his 3-point attempts.
