Zika outbreak in northern India state exceeds 100 cases
NEW DELHI (AP) — The number of Zika virus cases has crossed 100 in Rajasthan, a state in northern India where palaces and forts draw large numbers of tourists each year.
The Press Trust of India news agency reports eight new cases were reported from the state capital of Jaipur on Saturday.
The agency says that the new cases come amid a state health department investigation to track the outbreak of Zika in pregnant women in their first trimester.
Indian flight returns after passengers ill by pressure loss
NEW DELHI (AP) — A Jet Airways flight returned to Mumbai, India's financial capital, on Thursday after dozens of passengers complained of ear pain and nose bleeding due to the loss in cabin pressure.
An airline statement said Flight 9W697 with 166 passengers and five crew members landed normally in Mumbai. Medical help was given to 30 passengers.
Oxygen masks were deployed during the emergency aboard the Boeing 737, said Darshak Hathi, a passenger.
16 die as speeding tourist bus overturns in India
LUCKNOW, India (AP) — Police say at least 16 people were killed when a speeding tourist bus overturned after hitting a concrete road divider in northern India.
Police officer Ajay Shanker Rai says another 17 people were injured in the accident on Wednesday near Mainpuri, a town in Uttar Pradesh state.
The injured have been hospitalized with three of them in critical condition.
Buttler’s 95no keeps Rajasthan alive in IPL
JAIPUR, India (AP) — Jos Buttler hit a sensational 95 not out off 60 balls to help Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings by four wickets and stay alive in the Indian Premier League on Friday.
In reply to Chennai's 176-4, Buttler's third consecutive half-century helped Rajasthan make 177-6 with a ball to spare.
Rajasthan started its chase well. Allrounder Ben Stokes (11) was elevated to open with English compatriot Buttler and they put on 48 off only 24 balls.

Opener Buttler hit 82 off 58 balls in Rajasthan's 158-8 after captain Ajinkya Rahane had won the toss and elected to bat.
Rahul, who anchored Punjab to victory against the same opponents with an unbeaten 84 on Sunday, didn't get much support as his team was then restricted to 143-7.
JAIPUR, India (AP) — Sunrisers Hyderabad recorded a third successive win as it beat Rajasthan Royals by 11 runs in the Indian Premier League.
In Sunday's other IPL game, Chris Lynn scored 62 not out off 52 balls as Kolkata Knight Riders beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets.
Hyderabad's bowling attack pulled off another jailbreak as it successfully defended 151-7, a third consecutive feat of defending a low total. Rajasthan ended on 140-6.

NEW DELHI (AP) — Hillary Clinton was treated briefly at a hospital in western India after suffering a minor injury at her hotel, the head of the hospital said Friday
Clinton, who has been visiting some of India's historic sites in recent days, arrived at the hospital early Wednesday and "was here for about 15-20 minutes," said Suresh Goyal, the CEO of Goyal Hospital in the city of Jodhpur.
JAIPUR, India (AP) — Indian police said Thursday they have arrested three Hindus suspected of beating to death a Muslim man whom they accused of transporting cows for slaughter.
Fifteen Muslims were brutally beaten Saturday in Rajasthan state in the latest violence by Hindu vigilante groups over treatment of cows, which Hindus consider sacred. One man died later of his injuries.
Police said the animals were dairy cows the men had purchased at a cattle fair.
NEW DELHI (AP) — Singer Kishori Amonkar, renowned for her innovative interpretation of classical Indian music, has died, one of her students said Tuesday.
Amonkar, 84, died late Monday at her home in central Mumbai after a brief illness, said Gandhar Bedekar. Music students in India often live with their mentors, and Bedekar's mother was one of Amonkar's oldest disciples.
NEW DELHI (AP) — An Indian court sentenced two Hindu hard-liners to life in prison on Wednesday for triggering an explosion at a Muslim shrine in western India that killed three people and injured more than a dozen a decade ago.
The court handed the sentence to the convicts in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan state. A third convict in the case died after the 2007 blast, which occurred in Ajmer, a Muslim pilgrimage center in Rajasthan.
