Coach Mike White says the 22-year-old Hudson delivered the news Tuesday after talking with his family.
Hudson declared for the NBA draft in late March, but didn't hire an agent and left open the possibility of staying in school. Hudson wasn't invited to the NBA Combine and was told he wouldn't get drafted.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida has hired former Texas Tech assistant Al Pinkins as associate head coach.
Pinkins brings 15 years of collegiate coaching experience to Gainesville, including five in the Southeastern Conference.
Pinkins replaces Armon Gates, who accepted a job at Nebraska earlier this week. The Gators and Gates parted ways after less than a month on the job.

Allen bounced back from his worst game in more than three years with 24 points, including a 60-footer before the halftime buzzer and two huge 3-pointers in the closing minutes as Florida beat No. 12 Auburn 72-66 on Saturday night.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — After Chris Chiozza hit his first 3-pointer of the game, he figured he would take another.
When that one went in, his confidence really started to soar.
"Once I hit two, I said, 'I'm just going to come down and shoot another one to see what happens,'" he said. "They went in, so I was like, 'All right, I might shoot some more.'"
No one on Florida's bench would have complained had he taken every shot the rest of the day.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Florida worked through ugly play for much of the night against No. 18 Kentucky, and the persistent Gators eventually made the necessary shots to go ahead before holding on with several big defensive plays.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Marvin Bagley III had a simple explanation for No. 1 Duke's incredible late rally against No. 7 Florida.
"We just have heart," the 6-foot-11 freshman sensation said. "That's pretty much all it is."
Bagley had 30 points and 15 rebounds, and the Blue Devils came back from a 17-point deficit with 10 minutes left to beat the Gators 87-84 on Sunday night for the Motion Bracket championship at the Phil Knight Invitational tournament.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — For much of the night, it seemed like everything that could go wrong did for Florida against plucky New Hampshire.
Jalen Hudson scored 26 points, and the 8th-ranked Gators escaped with a 70-63 win over the Wildcats on Sunday night.
"It's kinda like a smack in the face," Hudson said. "We were not as good as we think we are."

Florida signs guard Okauru as Hester opts to transfer
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Guard Michael Okauru has signed a national letter of intent with Florida, adding to coach Mike White's second recruiting class.
The 6-foot-4 Okauru signed Wednesday and will be on campus this summer. His letter arrived the same day freshman guard Eric Hester decided to transfer, moving on after averaging 2.2 points in 20 games.
White says he expects Okauru to "be a great fit here, along with the rest of our incoming class, and look forward to having them on campus."
