JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Jason Burnell matched his career high with 30 points as Jacksonville State defeated Tennessee State 84-65 on Saturday night.
Jamall Gregory had 13 points for Jacksonville State (19-8, 11-3 Ohio Valley Conference). Ty Hudson added 10 points. Christian Cunningham had nine rebounds for the home team.
Stokley Chaffee Jr. had 17 points for the Tigers (8-18, 5-9). Kamar McKnight added 12 points. Tripp Davis had 12 points and six rebounds.

BEREA, Ky. (AP) — Nick Mayo had 22 points as Eastern Kentucky won its seventh straight home game, getting past Jacksonville State 88-70 on Thursday night.

Burnell’s 30 pts leads Jacksonville St past Belmont in OT
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Jason Burnell scored a career-high 30 points — including the go-ahead 3-pointer in overtime — and Jacksonville State used the extra session to pull away from Belmont for a 91-80 win Thursday night.
Burnell also grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Gamecocks (13-5, 5-0 Ohio Valley Conference) outscored Belmont 16-5 in overtime. Jacksonville State now has won six straight and 13 of its last 15, the best 15-game stretch since they joined Division I.

CANCUN, Mexico (AP) — Jamall Gregory and Derek St. Hilaire each scored 15 points, helping Jacksonville State beat Western Carolina 84-53 on Tuesday in the Cancun Challenge for its first victory of the season.
Gregory also had five steals as Jacksonville State set a Cancun Challenge record with 19 steals, topping VCU's 14 against Vanderbilt in 2008.

The Gamecocks (20-11, 11-7 Ohio Valley Conference) came into the game tied with Tennessee Tech for fourth place in the OVC standings after upsetting Belmont 78-67 on Thursday. The win gives them the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament.

The win broke a tie in the Ohio Valley Conference standings between the two teams and sent the Gamecocks (18-8, 9-4) into a tie for third with Austin Peay, which lost to Murray State.
