Bills sign OL Long to 3-year contract week after cut by Jets
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills have begun addressing their offensive line needs by signing Spencer Long to a three-year contract.
The addition made on Tuesday comes a week after the New York Jets cut Long to free up nearly $6.5 million from next season's salary cap.
The 28-year-old Long has 44 starts in 53 career games over five seasons. He spent his first four seasons in Washington, which selected him in the third round of the 2014 draft out of Nebraska.
Jets place left guard James Carpenter on season-ending IR
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets placed left guard James Carpenter on the injured reserve list Wednesday with a shoulder injury, ending the season for one of the team's most reliable players.
Carpenter had started in 58 straight games since signing with the Jets as a free agent in 2015 until missing New York's 27-13 loss to New England last Sunday.
Jets’ Darnold sits out again, appears unlikely vs. Patriots
NEW YORK (AP) — Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold sat out team drills for a second straight day of practice, increasing the likelihood he'll sit out against New England on Sunday.
Darnold strained his right foot against Miami on Nov. 4 and didn't play the following week against Buffalo. Josh McCown will start in Darnold's place again if the youngster is unable to play.
Big guys lined up in front of Darnold a huge key for Jets
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — All eyes will be on Sam Darnold when the New York Jets open their season against the Detroit Lions.
But the five big guys lined up in front of him will play a major role in the success — or failure — of the rookie quarterback and his offense Monday night.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — James Carpenter knocked on the side of his locker — it's wooden — and shook his head at the fact that he's the last one standing.

Jets’ Decker practices on limited basis, Marshall sits again
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker returned to practice on a limited basis after sitting out with a sore shoulder, while Brandon Marshall was out for a second straight day because of knee and foot ailments.
Decker says Thursday that he'll "be ready to go" against the Chiefs on Sunday in Kansas City.
Marshall appears to be more of an uncertainty and could be a game-time decision, although he said earlier in the week that he hopes to play.
Top targets banged up
Jets coach Todd Bowles wouldn’t say whether his two top receivers, Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, would play Sunday at Kansas City.
Marshall missed practice with the left knee injury he suffered last week at Buffalo. Decker sat out with a shoulder injury from the same game.
Bowles said that both could play even if they don’t practice this week.
Jets’ Marshall, Decker sit out practice, Forte limited
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall sat out practice while he recovers from a knee injury that briefly sidelined him against Buffalo last week.
Marshall was also listed on the team's injury report Wednesday with a foot ailment, but said Monday he hopes to play Sunday at Kansas City.
