Jamon Brown is giving a big lift to Giants’ offensive line
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — A reclamation project off the waiver wire is galvanizing the New York Giants' beleaguered offensive line.
Just two weeks ago, Jamon Brown thought he was without a job. He was released by the Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 31 after spending the better part of four years with the team. Brown, a guard for the Rams who started all 16 games and a playoff game in 2017, was on the waiver wire.
"That was definitely disappointing," Brown said. "I didn't see it coming."
Rams’ Jamon Brown returns from suspension as likely backup
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Jamon Brown might have lost his starting job on the Los Angeles Rams' offensive line during his two-game suspension for violating the NFL's substances of abuse policy.
If Brown isn't in the starting lineup when the Rams (2-0) host the Chargers on Sunday, the right guard doesn't seem overly disappointed by the decision.
Brown saw just how well Austin Blythe played in his unfortunate absence, and he knows he's got to go back to work.
Rams keep CB Shields and RBs Davis, Kelly in final cuts
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Tight end Temarrick Hemingway and linebacker Ejuan Price are among the players waived by the Los Angeles Rams in their final roster cutdown.
Backup running backs Justin Davis and John Kelly made the defending NFC West champions' roster Saturday.
Cornerback Sam Shields also made the roster. He hasn't played in the NFL since early in the 2016 season due to concussions.
Hemingway was a sixth-round pick in 2016, while Price was a seventh-rounder last season.
McVay’s careful preseason plan has Rams healthy for opener
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay has been more cautious than most of his peers in how he has used his starters during the preseason.
The starting offense, save for right guard Jamon Brown, will not play at all in the four exhibition games. The starting defense, save for outside linebacker Samson Ebukam, made a brief appearance in the third preseason game Saturday.
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Right guard Jamon Brown has been suspended for the first two games of the Los Angeles Rams' upcoming season for violating the NFL policy and program for substances of abuse.
The NFL announced the suspension Tuesday.
Brown started all 16 games last season for the Rams, who drafted him in the third round in 2015. He has started 30 games in three NFL seasons.
Center John Sullivan returns to LA Rams with 2-year deal
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Center John Sullivan has re-signed with the Los Angeles Rams, agreeing to a two-year contract.
The Rams announced the deal Friday.
Sullivan started 15 consecutive games in his first season with Los Angeles. He sat out the NFC West champions' meaningless regular-season finale to rest along with four fellow linemen.
The 32-year-old Notre Dame product spent his first eight NFL seasons in Minnesota. He played one year in Washington before signing with Los Angeles last year.
Rams on alert for Cowboys’ fearsome pass rusher Lawrence
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay knows it will take a comprehensive effort to limit Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence.
Realistically, though, that challenge will come down to how right tackle Rob Havenstein performs against the pass rusher in critical moments.
"When it comes down to third-and-long I have all the trust in the world in Rob to be able to do what he can do against DeMarcus," left guard Rodger Saffold said.
