Jaguars purge another defender by releasing LB Dan Skuta
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have released veteran linebacker Dan Skuta, continuing to purge defensive players.
The 30-year-old Skuta has appeared in 112 games, including 26 with the Jaguars. Skuta signed a five-year contract worth $20.5 million in 2015 that included a little more than $8 million guaranteed.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded fourth-year defensive end Chris Smith to the Cincinnati Bengals for a conditional pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
A fifth-round selection in 2014, Smith was behind Yannick Ngakoue and Dante Fowler on the depth chart and unlikely to play much in the final year of his contract.
The Jaguars previously traded their 2018 seventh-rounder to Miami for left tackle Branden Albert, so Tuesday's trade could help them regain a pick.
RB Latavius Murray, DT Dontari Poe visiting Jaguars
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have two former Pro Bowl players visiting: Oakland running back Latavius Murray and Kansas City defensive tackle Dontari Poe.
Both free agents were expected to wrap up visits Monday. It was unclear whether either would sign; both had other visits scheduled.
Murray ran for 2,278 yards and 20 touchdowns in three seasons with the Raiders, including 1,066 yards and six touchdowns in his 2015 Pro Bowl season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are spending big in free agency for the third consecutive year.
According to a person familiar with the deals, the Jaguars have agreed to terms with Arizona defensive end Calais Campbell and Dallas safety Barry Church. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the Jaguars won't announce any deals until players sign contracts Friday.
Jaguars release veteran defensive lineman Jared Odrick
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have released veteran defensive lineman Jared Odrick, saving $8.5 million against the salary cap.
Odrick was due a $2 million roster bonus and would have had $3.5 million of his $6.5 million salary for 2017 guaranteed had he still been on the roster March 13. So the Jaguars parted way with a player whose performance never quite matched his paycheck.
It surely didn't help that Odrick wanted to spend the offseason training away from Jacksonville.
Jaguars place TE Thomas, DE Odrick on injured reserve
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed tight end Julius Thomas and defensive end Jared Odrick on injured reserve, ending their seasons.
Thomas missed the past two games with a back injury. He finishes the season with 30 catches for 281 yards and four touchdowns. He will end up sitting out 11 games in two years since signing a five-year, $46 million contract that included $24 million guaranteed with the Jaguars (2-10).
Jaguars WR Hurns, TE Thomas ruled out, won’t play vs Vikings
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without receiver Allen Hurns and tight end Julius Thomas again Sunday against Minnesota.
Coach Gus Bradley ruled out Hurns (hamstring) and Thomas (back) on Friday as well as running back Denard Robinson (ankle), defensive end Jared Odrick (shoulder) and safety Peyton Thompson (ankle).

The Jaguars (2-8) placed fellow tight end Marcedes Lewis (calf) on injured reserve earlier in the week, leaving Ben Koyack and Neal Sterling to handle the workload at Buffalo (5-5).
Jaguars’ Bortles ‘threw pretty well’ despite sore shoulder
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars coach Gus Bradley says quarterback Blake Bortles "threw pretty well" in practice Wednesday despite a sore right shoulder.
Bortles adds that he got treatment and will "be good to go" when the Jaguars (2-8) play at Buffalo (5-5) on Sunday.
Titans without half of starting secondary vs. Jaguars
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans are without three starters against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night, including half of their secondary.
The Titans already had declared safety Rashad Johnson (neck) and cornerback Perrish Cox (concussion) out, and Daimion Stafford will start at safety with Brice McCain at cornerback. Brian Schwenke will start at left guard with Quinton Spain (bruised right knee) out.

Coach Gus Bradley ruled Beachum out Friday. Beachum, who spent Sunday night in a San Diego hospital, remains in the NFL's concussion protocol.
Jaguars C Brandon Linder could miss time with sprained knee
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars could be without starting center Brandon Linder against Baltimore on Sunday because of a sprained knee, a potentially huge setback for a team that also could be missing left tackle Kelvin Beachum.
Linder tweaked his right knee in practice Wednesday and was still in pain when he arrived at the facility Thursday. Neither Linder nor Beachum practiced Thursday. Beachum remains in the NFL's concussion protocol.
Jaguars expect Ivory to play in opener despite calf injury
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars expect running back Chris Ivory to play in the team's season opener against Green Bay despite a calf injury.
Ivory was limited in practice for the third consecutive day Friday and listed as questionable on the injury report, but coach Gus Bradley says "the arrow's up" on him.
Jaguars place Jared Odrick in NFL’s concussion protocol
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed defensive end Jared Odrick in the NFL's concussion protocol after he was hit in the jaw in practice.
The team says Odrick was removed from practice Wednesday following the hit. And after subsequent evaluation by the team's medical staff, Odrick was deemed to have possibly sustained a concussion.
