HOUSTON (AP) — Lamonte Bearden drilled a 3-pointer to start the scoring in the second overtime and Western Kentucky held on to beat Rice 92-85 on Thursday night.

Western Kentucky finishes strong to beat UTEP 76-59
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Josh Anderson had 18 points and Charles Bassey recorded his fifth double-double in the last six games as Western Kentucky finished strong to beat UTEP 76-59 on Saturday night.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Jared Savage scored 13 points with four 3-pointers as Western Kentucky had 10 players score in its 68-50 win against Charlotte on Thursday night in a Conference USA opener.
The Hilltoppers (8-6) showed no effects of a letdown following their 83-76 home win over then No. 15-ranked Wisconsin on Dec. 29. The Hilltoppers are 7-3 against Power 5 schools in the last two seasons.
Troy holds off late rally by Western Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Alex Hicks scored 20 points, Jordon Varnado had 19 points and 11 rebounds and Troy held off a late rally to defeat Western Kentucky 87-81 on Sunday.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Aleksa Jugovic scored 17 points, making 5 of 9 3-point shots, and Tennessee Tech broke away in the final minutes to defeat Austin Peay 76-67 on Thursday night.
Austin Peay learned earlier Thursday that longtime coach Dave Loos took a leave of absence to continue chemotherapy for a cancerous tumor. Loos hadn't missed a game since March 7, 1990.

Lipscomb sinks Austin Peay with 18 3-pointers, 99-85
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Garrison Mathews made five 3-pointers and had 28 points on Tuesday night and Lipscomb made a season-high 18 3-pointers to beat Austin Peay 99-85.
The Bisons (6-9) had the lead most of the way and responded with their biggest run after they briefly allowed the Governors (4-8) to take the lead with 12:36 to go. Lipscomb went on a 24-6 run from there and led 90-73 on Aaron Korn's 3-pointer with 5:42 left.
