MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies have sent forward Jarell Martin and cash considerations to the Orlando Magic in exchange for center Dakari Johnson and the draft rights to Tyler Harvey.
Martin, 24, played three seasons with the Grizzlies and averaged 6.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 18.3 minutes in 142 games. The Grizzlies took the 6-foot-10 forward from LSU with the 25th overall pick in the 2015 draft.
Grizzlies’ Tyreke Evans to undergo MRI on injured ribs
MIAMI (AP) — Memphis Grizzlies guard Tyreke Evans will undergo a precautionary MRI Sunday on injured right ribs that forced him to miss their game at Miami.
Coach J.B. Bickerstaff said he doesn't anticipate a long absence for Evans, who is averaging a team-high 19.4 points per game.
Evans left Friday's game against Cleveland in the fourth quarter because of the injury. Jarell Martin started for Evans against Miami on Saturday night.
PHOENIX (AP) — Tyson Chandler dunked Dragan Bender's inbounds pass from the opposite sideline with 0.4 seconds remaining to give the Phoenix Suns a 99-97 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night.
Bender threw a perfect pass and Chandler jumped over a defender to slam it down, though the play was reviewed by officials to see if there was offensive basket interference. After replay review, the basket counted, and Kobi Simmons missed the Grizzlies' last attempt to tie at the buzzer.
Grizzlies exercise 4th-year option on forward Jarell Martin
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies have exercised the fourth-year contract option on forward Jarell Martin.
The Grizzlies announced the move Tuesday.
The 25th pick overall in 2015, Martin convinced Memphis to keep him around after a strong performance during the preseason that has continued into the season. The 6-foot-10, 239-pound Martin has started six of seven games, and he is averaging a career-high 7.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 23.9 minutes.
Conley scores 24 points, Grizzlies beat Rockets 115-109
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Mike Conley is starting to look like his old self again and so are the Memphis Grizzlies.
Conley scored 24 points and Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol each added 16 to help the Grizzlies beat the Houston Rockets 115-109 on Friday night.
"It's good to see us slowly but surely getting back our team," said Memphis coach David Fizdale, who's seen Conley, Chandler Parsons, James Ennis and Vince Carter all return from injury this month.
Grizzlies exercise third-year option on F Jarell Martin
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies have exercised a third year contact option on forward Jarell Martin.
Team officials announced the decision Friday.
Martin played 27 regular-season games for the Grizzlies as a rookie last season and averaged 5.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 14.1 minutes. The former first-round pick from LSU also played 10 games for the NBA Development League's Iowa Energy and averaged 15 points and 6 rebounds.
Grizzlies healthy, excited for training camp with new coach
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Marc Gasol's surgically repaired right foot is healthy, and the Memphis Grizzlies center insists he's back — perhaps better than ever.
Point guard Mike Conley is healthy too, his aching Achilles a distant memory. Jarell Martin's own left foot is as healthy as it's been in a long time.
