SMU builds big lead, cruises to 81-53 rout of Cornell
DALLAS (AP) — Jimmy Whitt Jr. had a career-high 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting on Saturday, and SMU built a 34-point lead before the 15-minute mark of the second half and cruised to an 81-53 win over Cornell.
Whitt was 10 of 11 from the field in the first half and scored all of his 22 points before the break, the first Mustangs player to score 22 in a first half since Dec. 30, 2005.
McMurray has 18 points, helps SMU dominate Lamar 79-65
DALLAS (AP) — Jahmal McMurray scored 18 points to lead five in double figures as SMU took an early lead and coasted to a 79-65 victory over Lamar on Tuesday night.
McMurray, who drilled 4 of 9 from long range, finished with a career-best nine assists. Ethan Chargois added 17 points with six rebounds and four assists for SMU (4-3). Isiaha Mike had 16 points, Jarrey Foster, in his first game back since tearing an ACL in January, chipped in 11 and Feron Hunt contributed 10 points with seven boards.
Milton scores 14, SMU smothers South Florida, 79-39
DALLAS (AP) — Shake Milton had 14 points, two steal and two blocks and Jarrey Foster scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help SMU beat South Florida 79-39 on Sunday night for its 33rd consecutive home win.
Jahmal McMurray added 12 points and Jimmy Whitt had 11 points, on 5-of-6 shooting, and nine rebounds for SMU (12-3, 2-0 American Athletic Conference).
Foster, Milton help SMU beat UCF, extend home win streak
DALLAS (AP) — Jarrey Foster and Shake Milton scored 14 points apiece to help SMU beat UCF 56-51 on Wednesday night in the American Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Foster was 7-of-13 shooting, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots, while Milton had six boards and five assists.
SMU ends Boise State streak with 86-63 win
DALLAS (AP) — Jimmy Whitt, Jahmal McMurray and Ethan Chargois scored 16 points apiece and SMU beat Boise State 86-63 on Monday night, ending the Broncos' six-game win streak.
Ben Emelogu II added 12 points and Shake Milton scored 11 with seven rebounds and seven assists for SMU. The Mustangs (9-3) are 8-0 at home and have won 30 straight at Moody Coliseum, the second-longest active streak nationally.

Moody Magic: SMU over No. 14 USC 72-55, 28th home win in row
DALLAS (AP) — Tim Jankovich never wanted to watch the film of SMU's first-round NCAA Tournament loss last March. The only reason he did this week was because the Mustangs were getting ready to play Southern California again.
Jankovich will enjoy watching the rematch.
The Mustangs got some measure of revenge with a 72-55 victory over No. 14 USC on Saturday night after charging ahead with a big run after halftime.
Milton, Foster, Whitt combine for 59, SMU gets 95-64 win
DALLAS (AP) — Shake Milton, Jarrey Foster and Jimmy Whitt combined for 59 points as SMU dominated UT Rio Grande Valley 95-64 for SMU's 27th straight victory at home on Tuesday night.
Milton hit 6 of 13 field goals and made 9 of 10 free throws for 22 points, Foster was 7 of 11 from the floor for 19 and Whitt made 9 of 12 field goal attempts to add 18 points while dishing out six assists.
Ethan Charqois chipped in 15 points for the Mustangs, who will host No. 14 USC on Saturday night.
Northern Iowa beats SMU 61-58 in Battle 4 Atlantis 1st round
PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (AP) — Spencer Haldeman scored 15 points to help Northern Iowa beat SMU 61-58 in Wednesday's final first-round game at the Battle 4 Atlantis.
The Panthers (4-1) shot 48 percent and controlled the glass in their fourth straight win since a season-opening loss to reigning national champion North Carolina. Northern Iowa took the lead for good midway through the first half and led by as many as 15 before the break.
SMU throttles cold-shooting Northwestern State 81-35
DALLAS (AP) — Jarrey Foster scored 19 points, Ben Emelogu II had 17 points and a career-high nine rebounds, and SMU routed Northwestern State 81-35 on Wednesday night.
Northwestern State made only 12 field goals — three coming in the first half— and shot 24.5 percent for the game. The Demons missed 21 straight shots over 17-plus minutes in the first half.
SMU distances itself from La-Monroe in 83-65 win
DALLAS (AP) — Shake Milton scored 24 points and Ethan Chargois scored 23 points and had nine rebounds and Southern Methodist pulled away from Louisiana Monroe for an 83-65 win on Sunday.
SMU (2-0) led 35-31 at the break, and early in the second half, Travis Munnings made a pair of free throws to bring the Warhawks to within 41-40. Milton responded with a pair of free throws and a jumper and Jimmy Whitt made a layup for 47-42 Mustangs lead.
Milton scores 28, leads SMU comeback to beat UMBC, 78-67
DALLAS (AP) — Shake Milton tossed in 28 points and SMU overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to beat Maryland-Baltimore County, 78-67 in the season opener Friday night.
UMBC maintained a lead until Milton hit a pair of free throws and Ben Emelogu II nailed a 3 to give the Mustangs a 66-63 lead.
Milton was a perfect 10-for-10 shooting from the line and knocked down six free throws down the stretch to help SMU seal the win.
SMU beats Cincinnati 71-56 for AAC championship
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Nobody will be heading into the NCAA Tournament with more momentum than SMU.
The Mustangs won their 16th straight game on Sunday, taking the American Athletic Conference championship with a 71-56 victory over Cincinnati.
Ojeleye, No. 19 SMU rally for 76-66 win over Houston
HOUSTON (AP) — Trailing by double digits midway through the first half, SMU didn't panic. The Mustangs had the confidence to dig their way out.
Semi Ojeleye had 18 of his 22 points in the second half and No. 19 SMU rallied to beat Houston 76-66 on Saturday.
Ojeleye also had nine rebounds, and the Mustangs have won 10 straight and 20 out of 21.
Ojeleye big 2nd half, No. 19 SMU rallies 80-75 over Tulane
DALLAS (AP) — Semi Ojeleye scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half, including consecutive 3-pointers in the SMU run that finally put the 19th-ranked Mustangs ahead in an 80-75 victory over Tulane on Wednesday night.
With the rally from a 15-point halftime deficit, SMU (23-4, 13-1 American) extended its home winning streak to 20 games in a row, including all 16 this season. The AAC-leading Mustangs have a nine-game winning streak and have won 19 of their last 20 games overall
Brown propels SMU past Tulsa 76-53
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Sterling Brown scored 24 of his 27 points in the second half and SMU rolled past Tulsa for a 76-53 win Saturday night.
Shake Milton added 19 points, Semi Ojeleye had 16 and Ben Moore collected 10 rebounds for SMU (20-4, 10-1 American), which shot 49 percent from the field to pick up its sixth straight win. Brown was 9 of 15 from the field and his 24 second-half points were the most by a Mustang since 2011.
SMU pulls away from Tulane in second half, 80-64
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Semi Ojeleye scored 21 points and Jarrey Foster added 19 more to lead SMU to an 80-64 win over Tulane on Sunday night.
Ben Moore contributed 15 points and Shake Milton got 11 to go with nine rebounds for SMU (15-4, 5-1 American Athletic Conference), which hit 31 of 61 from the field. Ojeleye and Foster each had three 3-pointers.
No. 22 Cincinnati holds on for 66-64 win over SMU
CINCINNATI (AP) — Instead of losing close games this season, Cincinnati is finding ways to pull them out.
Troy Caupain scored 16 points and blunted SMU's comeback with a clutch 3-pointer on Thursday night, helping the 22nd-ranked Bearcats hold on for a 66-64 victory over SMU.
SMU wins 10th straight, tops South Florida 84-65
DALLAS (AP) — Semi Ojeleye scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds, Jarrey Foster had 17 points and 12 rebounds, and SMU won its 10th straight on Saturday with an 84-65 win over South Florida.
Sterling Brown added a season-high 19 points to go with five rebounds and five assists for the Mustangs (14-3, 4-0 American Athletic), who have won 15 straight at home (11 this season).
SMU beats Temple 79-65 for ninth straight victory
DALLAS (AP) — Semi Ojeleye scored 19 points, Shake Milton and Ben Moore added 18 each and SMU beat Temple 79-65 on Wednesday night for the Mustangs' ninth consecutive victory.
Ojeleye added nine rebounds and Moore and Milton seven each as the Mustangs (13-3, 3-0 American) played only seven players. Jarrey Foster added 13 points and grabbed seven boards with SMU outrebounding Temple 42-25. Moore went over 1,000 career points.
SMU defense stymies East Carolina in 75-44 blowout win
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Ben Moore scored 18 points and all five SMU starters finished in double figures as the Mustangs cruised to a 75-44 win over East Carolina on Saturday.
Moore finished 8 of 10 from the field and added 11 rebounds. Shake Milton finished with 14 points, Sterling Brown had 13, while Jarrey Foster and Semi Ojeleye added 12 apiece for the Mustangs (12-3, 2-0 American).
Ojeleye nets career-high 28, SMU beats Albany 71-53
DALLAS (AP) — Semi Ojeleye had a career-high 28 points and SMU outscored Albany by 15 points in the final 10:29 for a 71-53 win on Tuesday night.
The Mustangs (10-3) took a 63-48 lead with 5:34 left when Shake Milton's 3-pointer capped a 14-2 run. The Great Danes (7-6) replied with a 5-2 burst to get within 12, but SMU closed out its sixth straight win by scoring all six points in the final two minutes, including 4 of 5 free throws.
SMU uses late run to beat Cal State Bakersfield 49-43
DALLAS (AP) — Shake Milton scored 10 of his 13 points in the second half and SMU rallied in the final five minutes Friday night to beat Cal State Bakersfield 49-43.
The Mustangs (5-3) went on a 12-0 run starting with Jarrey Foster's free throw at 5:28 and ending on Semi Ojeleye's free throw to make it 48-40 with 13 seconds left.
Milton's 3-pointer with 3:36 left gave SMU the lead for good at 43-40.
SMU rolls past Eastern Michigan 91-64
DALLAS (AP) — Semi Ojeleye had 18 points and eight rebounds, Jarrey Foster also put in 18 points, and SMU rolled past Eastern Michigan 91-64 on Sunday.
Shake Milton and Sterling Brown added 12 points apiece with Milton passing out five assists and Brown grabbing seven boards. Ben Moore had 11 points and six rebounds as the Mustangs shot 52.7 percent and dominated the boards 44-26.
