New Orleans Saints hire Darren Rizzi as special teams coach
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton says he's hired Darren Rizzi as special teams coordinator.
Rizzi, whose hiring was announced Monday, fills a vacancy that opened when former coordinator Bradford Banta was fired after this season, his second on the job.

Osweiler comes off bench to lead Miami past Bears, 31-28
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — When a field goal gave the Miami Dolphins a seesaw victory over the Chicago Bears, Brock Osweiler was the first player sprinting from the sideline onto the field in jubilation, capping an eventful day for the backup quarterback.
Even his morning commute was intense.
"I got a little emotional driving to the stadium today, just thinking about the opportunity," Osweiler said.
Sanders kicks FG as Dolphins rally past Bears 31-28 in OT
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Kicker Jason Sanders turned teammate Kenyan Drake's fumble into a footnote.
Drake lost the ball when the Miami Dolphins were on the verge of victory, but thanks to Sanders it didn't matter. The rookie made a 47-yard field goal as time expired in overtime Sunday for a 31-28 victory over the Chicago Bears.

Former starting CB Tony Lippett waived by Dolphins
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Former starting cornerback Tony Lippett has been waived by the Miami Dolphins after missing all of last season with a torn Achilles tendon.
Lippett started 13 games in 2016 but struggled returning from his injury in training camp this year.
Also cut Saturday was receiver Leonte Carroo, a third-round pick in 2016 who has only 10 receptions in two seasons.
The final day of the NFL Draft saw a pair of in-state players get selected.
Former University of New Mexico kicker Jason Sanders was taken by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round, making him the first Lobo drafted in eight years. He is the program’s 65th draft selection dating to 1939 and the 13th since 2000.

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Teriyon Gipson ran for two touchdowns, and Jason Sanders kicked a 40-yard field goal with 1:06 remaining to give New Mexico a 24-21 victory over Utah State on Saturday night.
Utah State (3-7, 1-6 Mountain West) led 21-6 early in the third quarter. Gipson scored twice from inside the 5 in the third quarter to tie it 21-all.
