STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Not even a 35-minute delay at halftime to replace the backboards distracted Josh Sharma or his Stanford teammates.
Sharma scored 22 points and had 12 rebounds to help Stanford beat UCLA 104-80 on Saturday night.
"We came out strong in the second half," Sharma said. "We got it up to a 20-point lead in a short amount of time. We tried to stay focused and stay loose."

Hands averaged 9.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists for the Bruins last season. The San Diego native started 15 of 31 games in which he appeared.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — UCLA's Jaylen Hands was on a breakaway with Kris Wilkes and no Stanford defenders in the area. Hands got creative and took a play out of his high school playbook of fancy, crowd-pleasing moves.
He used a between-the-legs alleyoop pass to Wilkes for a basket.
"I got the rebound, and I saw Kris running and I remember I had a lot of space, so I was like, 'I've got to do something crazy,' " Hands said. "I didn't know what to do and it just came into my head."

Holiday scored a career-high 33 points, pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds and had four assists and Jaylen Hands added 19 points to lead UCLA to a 96-82 victory over Washington State. Kris Wilkes scored 14 points and Thomas Welsh scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Bruins (10-3).

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Thomas Welsh scored 19 points and Aaron Holiday added 15 to lead UCLA to an 85-82 victory over South Dakota on Tuesday night.
Welsh, who is averaging a double-double this season, made 7 of 14 shots, pulled down 11 rebounds, had four assists and three blocks.
"I got a lot of good looks tonight and I took them," Welsh said.
Jaylen Hands and Gyorgy Goloman scored 12 points apiece and Chris Smith added 10 for the Bruins.
Los Angeles — Detroit Mercy entered Sunday night's game against UCLA at Pauley Pavilion with the nation's fourth-ranked scoring offense (93.7 points per game).

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prince Ali was given an opportunity to crack the starting lineup at UCLA. Bruins coach Steve Alford doesn't put much weight into who starts and who doesn't but rather puts stock in the contributions from his players.
It was clear Ali took much pride in the starting nod. He scored 16 of his career-high 21 points in the first half and No. 23 UCLA beat UC Irvine 87-63 on Sunday.
"I just wanted to come in, play defense and be aggressive," Ali said.
No. 21 UCLA survives to beat Georgia Tech 63-60
SHANGHAI (AP) — Led by freshman Kris Wilkes with 18 points, No. 21 UCLA overcame the loss of three other freshmen who were held out to beat Georgia Tech 63-60 in the teams' season opener on Saturday in China.
Fellow freshman Jaylen Hands added 14 points, Aaron Holiday had 11 and Thomas Welsh had 10 for the Bruins, who used defense in the closing minutes to hold off the Yellow Jackets.
