NEW YORK (AP) — Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis has been removed from Sunday's starting lineup against the Yankees, two days after he was hit on the right elbow by a pitch from New York's CC Sabathia.
Davis was in the original lineup batting fifth. Trey Mancini took over at first base and was dropped down one slot.
Bothered by elbow soreness, Davis is 0 for 7 since he was hit.
NEW YORK (AP) — Matt Holliday ended a thrilling duel of home run derby in the Bronx with one final thump.
Holliday hit the eighth homer of the game, a three-run shot in the 10th inning as the New York Yankees completed a stunning rally from an eight-run deficit, outslugging the Baltimore Orioles 14-11 Friday night.
Homers by Mancini, Schoop carry Orioles past Red Sox 4-2
BALTIMORE (AP) — Just when it appeared Steven Wright had finally gained command of his fluttering knuckleball, the Baltimore Orioles found their groove.
The result: Another early exit for the 2016 All-Star in Boston's 4-2 loss Saturday night.
Trey Mancini and Jonathan Schoop homered in succession off Wright, Jayson Aquino won his first big league start and the Orioles used one big inning to secure their fourth straight victory.
