Gordon Hayward scored 26 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:50 remaining, and Boston beat Philadelphia 112-109 on Tuesday night. Al Horford had 23 and Jayson Tatum scored 20 and grabbed 10 rebounds to help the Celtics continued their dominance over the Sixers.
Lakers edge Celtics 129-128 on Rondo’s jumper at the buzzer
BOSTON (AP) — Rajon Rondo hit a 20-foot jumper as time expired to lift the Los Angeles Lakers over the Boston Celtics, 129-128 on Thursday night.
LeBron James had 28 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists. Kyle Kuzma added 25 points and Rondo had 17 points and 10 assists to help Los Angeles bounce back after a 42-point loss at Indiana on Tuesday.

Making his first visit to Cleveland since suffering a horrific broken left ankle in his debut for Boston in 2017, Hayward scored 18 points as the Celtics beat the Cavaliers 103-96 on Tuesday night for their fifth straight victory despite missing All-Star guard Kyrie Irving.
Brown, Tatum carry Celtics over Hornets without Irving
BOSTON (AP) — With Kyrie Irving again stuck to the sideline, Terry Rozier and his Celtics teammates enjoyed another run as the featured act.
The talented young cast stole the show again.
Rozier had 17 points and 10 assists, Jaylen Brown added 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Jayson Tatum scored 20 points to help Boston roll over the Charlotte Hornets 126-94 on Wednesday night despite Irving's absence.
Simmons, Mitchell, Doncic headline Rising Stars game
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Philadelphia's Ben Simmons, Utah's Donovan Mitchell and Dallas' Luka Doncic were among the 20 players announced Tuesday as participants in this year's Rising Stars game at All-Star weekend.
Simmons is the reigning rookie of the year, and Doncic is the favorite to win that award this season.
For the fifth straight year, the game that features rookies and second-year players will use a U.S. vs. World format.
Rozier’s perfect start, 26 points carry Celtics past Cavs
BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Celtics had a little tuneup before their big mid-winter test.
Terry Rozier scored 22 of his 26 points in the first half and the Celtics coasted to their fifth straight victory with a 123-103 win over the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night.
Now, they look ahead to a showdown with defending champion Golden State at TD Garden on Saturday night.
Magic hold on to beat Celtics for second time, 105-103
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The Boston Celtics couldn't cool down Terrence Ross in the second half and it cost them the game.
Aaron Gordon had 28 points and 12 rebounds, and the Orlando Magic held off a late rally to beat the Celtics 105-103 on Saturday night.
Ross added 25 points, 18 in the second half, and Celtics coach Brad Stevens said he was the difference.
Irving scores 17 in return as Celtics top sloppy Nets 116-95
BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Celtics shared the ball extremely well. The sloppy Brooklyn Nets helped them out a lot, too.
Kyrie Irving returned after missing two games with an eye injury and scored 17 points to lead eight players in double figures as Boston beat the Nets 116-95 on Monday night.
Jayson Tatum added 16 points, and Al Horford, Gordon Hayward, Marcus Morris and Marcus Smart each scored 12 for the Celtics, who won their third straight game.

BOSTON (AP) — A little internal venting seemed to get the Boston Celtics back on track.
Kyrie Irving scored 25 points, Jayson Tatum had 17 and the Celtics ended a three-game skid with a 119-103 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night.
Boston was coming off a 120-107 loss at home to Milwaukee on Friday, which prompted a closed-door meeting in the locker room. The Celtics came out Sunday looking much more like the team that had won eight straight before the skid.
Suns beat Celtics 111-103, run winning streak to 4 games
BOSTON (AP) — Devin Booker had 25 points and eight assists, and Deandre Ayton added 23 points and 18 rebounds to lead the suddenly resurgent Phoenix Suns past the Boston Celtics 111-103 on Wednesday night.
It was the fourth consecutive victory for the Suns since opening the season 4-24. Phoenix has its first four-game winning streak since March 2015.
T.J. Warren scored 21 points and Kelly Oubre Jr. had 13 for the Suns.
Booker, Ayton carry Suns past Celtics for 4th straight win
BOSTON (AP) — It appears the Phoenix Suns have finally figured things out.
Devin Booker had 25 points and eight assists, and rookie Deandre Ayton added 23 points and 18 rebounds to lead the suddenly resurgent Suns past the Boston Celtics 111-103 on Wednesday night.
"We had multiple conversations when we were losing early in the year," Booker said. "We looked around the locker room and said, 'Nobody's going to feel bad for us.'"

DETROIT (AP) — Jayson Tatum leaped toward the basket and Andre Drummond met him there, blocking the Boston forward's attempt at a one-handed dunk.
It was a fitting conclusion to an impressive second half of defense by the Detroit Pistons.
"I was thinking to myself as I was running. I'm like, if he gets this dunk, it's going to ignite their entire team," Drummond said. "I have to do something."

Al Horford's injured knee didn't keep him from leaping to his feet when Jayson Tatum drove past Anthony Davis for a dunk.
Horford, Irving, Hayward, Baynes out for Celtics vs Pelicans
BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Celtics were without four key players against the New Orleans Pelicans, with stars Kyrie Irving, Al Horford and Gordon Hayward all out for the game.
Big man Aron Baynes was also out with a sprained ankle Monday night. Horford was nursing a sore left knee, Irving had a sore right shoulder, and Hayward was ill.
The four players combine to average more than 50 points, 21 rebounds and 14 assists this season.

BOSTON (AP) — After stumbling through a late November slump, the Boston Celtics scored a season-high for the second game in a row.
Kyrie Irving scored 29 points in the first three quarters and was one of seven Boston players in double figures as the Celtics routed the Cleveland Cavaliers 128-95 on Friday night.
"It makes our jobs a lot easier to go out there and play at a high level when we're all doing it, not just a couple guys here and there. We need everybody," Irving said.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Anthony Davis had just trimmed New Orleans' deficit to a seemingly surmountable seven points when Boston's Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum combined to quickly squash any notion of a comeback.
Irving closed out a 26-point, 10-assist performance with a 3-pointer and a tough baseline fade over Davis, and the Celtics pulled away late for a 124-107 victory over the Pelicans on Monday night.

BOSTON (AP) — After averaging 14 points through the first six games, Kyrie Irving knew he was due to start hitting some shots.
Irving broke through Tuesday night with a season-high 31 points and led a third-quarter surge that put Boston in command of a 108-105 win over Detroit, handing the Pistons back-to-back losses after a 4-0 start.

It didn't stop them from picking up their first victory on a night they celebrated the official return of their two biggest stars.
Jayson Tatum had 23 points and nine rebounds, and the Celtics beat the Philadelphia 76ers 105-87 on Tuesday night in the season opener for both teams.
Celtics healthy, eager to embrace favorites tag in East
BOSTON (AP) — The band is back together in Boston.
Or, at least, it's healthy again.
Hopes were high for the Celtics going into last season thanks to a revamped roster that included All-Star additions Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward.
Everything changed five minutes into the season with Hayward's gruesome leg injury. Expectations changed again late in the season when Irving was also lost for the year following a pair of knee surgeries.
