Crutcher scores 20 to lead Dayton past Rhode Island 77-48
KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Jalen Crutcher tied his season high with 20 points as Dayton easily beat Rhode Island 77-48 on Saturday.
Obi Toppin had 19 points for Dayton (16-8, 8-3 Atlantic 10 Conference). Josh Cunningham added 13 points. Jordan Davis had 12 points for the visiting team.
Rhode Island scored 21 second-half points, a season low for the team.

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Jeff Dowtin had 17 points and Tyrese Martin added 16 with 10 rebounds to help Rhode Island run past Saint Louis 65-54 on Saturday.
Downton, who was 7 of 9 from the floor, drove for his first basket with 13:56 left in the first half to give the Rams an 8-6 lead. He followed with two straight jumpers as Rhode Island led 12-6. The Rams never trailed again and took a 24-20 lead into the break.

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Fatts Russell and Tyrese Martin scored 18 points apiece and Rhode Island beat St. Bonaventure 75-63 on Wednesday night.
Cyril Langevine added 14 with eight rebounds, Jeff Dowtin scored 12 and the Rams (9-7, 2-2 Atlantic 10) outscored the Bonnies 34-24 in the paint and outshot them 54 percent to 39 percent.
Rhode Island races past MTSU in 2nd half for 72-63 win
KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Jeff Dowtin scored 17 points with four rebounds, four assists and three steals and Rhode Island beat Middle Tennessee 72-60 on Sunday in the first matchup between the two schools.
Dana Tate contributed 15 points and six rebounds and Fatts Russell scored 11 with five assists for the Rams.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Rhode Island broke West Virginia's press and broke down the Mountaineer defense in the second half of their game at the Hall of Fame Showcase.
The Rams' Jeff Dowtin and Fatts Russell each scored 18 points as Rhode Island pulled away for an 83-70 win at the Mohegan Sun arena in Connecticut.

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Cyril Langevine scored 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for his 10th career double-double and 400th career rebound and Rhode Island beat Brown 71-51 on Wednesday night.
Jermaine Harris scored 15 points and Jeff Dowtin had 11 for the Rams (3-2), who shot 37 percent and outrebounded the Bears 53-40.
Harris' slam off a no-look pass from Fatts Russell put the Rams up 42-30 early in the second half and Rhode Island led by 21 on Ryan Preston's jumper with 2:08 to play.

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Fatts Russell had a career-high 21 points and Jeff Dowtin added 17 with nine assists as Rhode Island blew out Bryant 97-63 in the season opener on Tuesday night.
This was the debut for both coaches with David Cox getting the win over Jared Grasso in the first meeting since Bryant moved up to Division I. The schools met three times in the 1980s when Bryant was still in Division II.

The Rams overcame a nine-point deficit in the second half with Terrell scoring 16 points after intermission.

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Stanford Robinson had 18 points and Andre Berry added 15 as Rhode Island opened the season with an 84-60 win over UNC Asheville on Friday night.

(AP) — Dan Hurley stole an occasional glance at the raucous Rhode Island section and realized just how much this NCAA Tournament means to a starved program, and to an entire state that loves its basketball even if far more under the radar than so many of the others featuring powerhouse programs.

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Hassan Martin scored 23 points, Jared Terrell added 17, including his 1,000th career point, and Rhode Island closed the game on a 13-1 run to beat George Washington 82-70 on Tuesday night.
Martin's 3-point play with 4:49 left gave Rhode Island a 72-69 lead and Terrell's hoop and free throw at the 2:47 mark made it 77-70. Terrell also had a key block on a 3-pointer during the late run.
