OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — It took Vanderbilt nearly four months to earn its first win away from home this season.
Now that the Commodores have finally broken through, they hope it's the start of something good heading into next week's Southeastern Conference tournament.
Jeff Roberson scored 19 points and Saben Lee added 17 to push Vanderbilt past Mississippi 82-69 on Saturday night. It's the first time in 13 tries that the Commodores have won in a road or neutral-floor game.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Quinndary Weatherspoon had 19 points and Aric Holman added 18 points and a career-high 14 rebounds to lead Mississippi State to an 80-62 win over Vanderbilt on Tuesday at Humphrey Coliseum.
The Bulldogs (14-4, 2-3 Southeastern Conference) also received 10 points from Lamar Peters.
Vanderbilt (6-12, 1-5) was led by Ejike Obinna's 14 points. Jeff Roberson added 10 points for the Commodores, who have dropped four straight.

The 6-foot-6 forward from Houston had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Commodores to a 79-76 win over UNC Asheville in the first round of the NIT Season Tip-Off on Friday night.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Giddy Potts scored 27 points and Middle Tennessee won its third straight over an SEC opponent with a 71-48 win over Vanderbilt on Thursday night.
MTSU (9-1) has won seven of its last 12 against the SEC, including a 77-62 win at Ole Miss on Nov. 30.
Potts made four 3-pointers and grabbed nine rebounds in the Blue Raiders' seventh straight win.
Vanderbilt holds off Santa Clara for 76-66 victory
LAS VEGAS (AP) — After two straight losses, Vanderbilt coach Bryce Drew was hoping something would spark his Commodores.
Turns out the Thanksgiving loss to Butler in the Continental Las Vegas Invitational semifinals established a toughness and resiliency into his players.
Luke Kornet had 18 points and six rebounds to lead Vanderbilt, which held off feisty Santa Clara in a 76-66 win on Friday night at the Orleans Arena.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Luke Kornet scored 20 points and Matthew Fisher-Davis added 16 and first-year coach Bryce Drew won his home opener as Vanderbilt beat Belmont 80-66 on Tuesday night.
The former Valparaiso coach earned his first win with the Commodores (1-1). Vanderbilt won its 10th consecutive home opener, improving to 58-7 all-time.
Kornet made 12 of 16 shots and the Commodores hit 25 of 31.
