ATLANTA (AP) — Nijal Pearson scored 27 points with a season-high seven 3-pointers to help Texas State beat Georgia State 81-68 in a battle for first place in the Sun Belt Conference on Thursday night.
Texas State continued its best start since the 1959-60 season. Tre Nottingham and Alex Peacock added 13 points each for the Bobcats (17-3, 6-1).
Texas State pulled away with 18 straight points to lead 79-59 with 2:56 left on Pearson's third 3-pointer during the run.
Georgia State wins seventh straight, beats South Alabama
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — D'Marcus Simonds scored 18 points and Jeff Thomas scored the final four points for Georgia State which defeated South Alabama 69-66 on Thursday night for its seventh straight win.
Thomas scored 15 points with nine rebounds and Devin Mitchell made five 3-pointers for his 15 points for the Panthers (14-4, 5-0 Sun Belt).
Kane Williams gave Georgia State the lead with two free throws with 1:09 remaining and Thomas hit a 3-pointer 30 seconds later and added a free throw.
Jeff Thomas says he’s returning to Miami
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Jeff Thomas says he's returning to the Miami Hurricanes.
The speedy wide receiver, who was dismissed by the Hurricanes in November and was transferring to Illinois, said in an Instagram post on Tuesday night that he's going back to Miami.
The Hurricanes had no immediate comment, though new coach Manny Diaz tweeted out a game-action photo of Thomas shortly after the receiver's post.

Thomas led Miami with 35 catches and 563 receiving yards this season. He was also a standout kickoff and punt returner for the Hurricanes, and became the first Miami player in more than two years to run back a punt for a touchdown when he took one in from 51 yards during last week's win at Virginia Tech.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — One good performance seemed to make a month of bad ones disappear for Miami.
N'Kosi Perry threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, Cam'Ron Davis scored twice and Miami snapped a four-game losing streak with a 38-14 victory against Virginia Tech on Saturday.
