Pruitt announced staff changes Friday that included the hire of Derrick Ansley as a defensive coordinator who will handle all defensive calls. Pruitt had called Tennessee's defensive signals last season while Kevin Sherrer served as defensive coordinator.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Two decades after playing quarterback on Tennessee's last national championship team, Tee Martin is returning to his alma mater as an assistant coach.
Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt announced Saturday that Martin has joined his staff. Martin's specific title and duties haven't been announced yet.
"It's the perfect time to come back home," Martin said in a statement released by the university.
Tennessee hires Georgia’s Chaney as offensive coordinator

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee fortified its recruiting class on the second day of the early signing period by adding running back Eric Gray.
Gray, who is from Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis, set a Tennessee high school state record with 138 career touchdowns. The 5-foot-10 Gray rushed for over 2,000 yards each of the last three seasons and was the first three-time Mr. Football winner in the state of Tennessee.
