MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Scott McCarron won the American Family Insurance Championship on Sunday, closing with an 8-under 64 for a one-stroke victory over hometown player Jerry Kelly.
The 52-year-old McCarron birdied Nos. 14-16 and parred the final two to hold on for his first victory of the season and seventh in three years on the PGA Tour Champions. He finished at 15-under 201 at University Ridge.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Bernhard Langer returned for a three-week break to shoot an 8-under 64 and take the first-round lead Friday in the PGA Tour Champions' Principal Charity Classic.
Langer closed the bogey-free round with a 12-foot birdie putt on the par-4 18th at Wakonda Club. The 60-year-old German star took the brief break in part to attend his son's high school graduation.

SNOQUALMIE, Wash. (AP) — Jerry Kelly won the Boeing Classic on Sunday for his first PGA Tour Champions title, closing with a 6-under 66 for a one-stroke victory over Jerry Smith.
Kelly tied Smith hit to 3 feet for birdie on the par-4 16th and moved ahead with a 15-foot birdie putt on the par-3 17th. After Smith left an 8-foot birdie try short on the par-5 18th, Kelly pulled his 3 1/2-foot birdie attempt to the left and tapped in for the winning par.

Making his second senior start after turning 50 on July 26, McKenzie eagled the par-5 eighth — his 17th hole — to join Kelly atop the leaderboard at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge. The Australian set up the eagle with a 5-iron from the left rough that he hit to 18 feet.

Still, the Madison native really needed the shots he made in making birdies on Nos. 11, 12 and 13 to get his game back on track after carding three bogeys on the front nine.
Kelly finished with a second straight 2-under 70 to tie for 13th place at 8 under.

“I didn’t hit it very well and I didn’t putt it very well,” Kelly said after his round Saturday. “I would like to perform better here, but it hasn’t happened yet. Yet.”

The weather was perfect, the greens were soft and the scores, predictably, were low.
All that paled in comparison, however, to the biggest takeaway from the opening round of the American Family Insurance Championship.
On Friday at University Ridge Golf Course, it was Steve and Jerry’s world. Everyone else was just living in it.
