Winning, not milestones, important to Mountaineers senior
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Ask West Virginia guard Daxter Miles how many of the players he could name in the program's 1,000-point club, and he wastes no time throwing out a handful of names.
First, of course, came teammate and fellow senior Jevon Carter, followed by other recent WVU stars like Devin Williams and Juwan Staten and all-time greats like Jerry West and Hot Rod Hundley. And now, after the Dec. 20 win against Coppin State, Miles can add himself to that list.

NORMAN AREY COLUMN: I want to share with you my love for college basketball
I wanted to use this opportunity to try and share with you my love for college basketball. I’ve been told that when I write about anything other than football people stop reading, but hear me out. I’ve mentioned some of this before, but when I was growing up in Henderson, North Carolina, I fell in love with basketball. I was deep in ACC country and, as you well know, until recently they knew little about college football. The only football I saw was a weekly game of the Washington Redskins on TV sponsored by Amoco.
