Halak stopped 22 shots for his third shutout of the season as the Bruins beat the Canadiens 4-0 on Monday night.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang took part in a morning skate Monday and it will be decided at game time if he plays against the Anaheim Ducks.
Letang appeared to injure his left leg after colliding with Boston forward Joakim Nordstrom during the third period of Pittsburgh's 4-3 overtime victory Friday. He sat out a victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday but appeared to be fine Monday.

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Bruins were able to celebrate after overtime for just the second time this season.
Joakim Nordstrom tipped in a pass from Torey Krug 1:57 into overtime and the Bruins beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 on Friday night.
Jake DeBrusk also scored and Jaroslav Halak made 36 saves for the Bruins, who were coming off an overtime loss in Detroit on Wednesday and went to OT for the third time in four games.
Jason Dickinson scores in OT, Stars beat Bruins 1-0
DALLAS (AP) — Jason Dickinson buried a rebound 1:34 into overtime, Ben Bishop made 23 saves and the Dallas Stars beat the Boston Bruins 1-0 on Friday night.
Dickinson and Mattias Janmark led a 2-on-1 against goalie Tuukka Rask. Janmark shot from the left side, and the rebound slid to Dickinson right in front. He lifted the puck in for his fourth goal.
Pastrnak scores 3 to lift Bruins to 5-1 win over Maple Leafs
BOSTON (AP) — David Pastrnak had three goals and an assist to lead the Boston Bruins to a 5-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
Patrice Bergeron had a goal and two assists, Joakim Nordstrom also scored and Brad Marchand had two assists as the Bruins ended the Maple Leafs' three-game winning streak and handed Toronto its first road loss of the season. Jaroslav Halak stopped 40 shots.
John Tavares scored the only goal for Toronto, and Garret Sparks finished with 29 saves.
Horvat scores in overtime, Canucks top Bruins 2-1
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Vancouver Canucks coach Travis Green wanted his two top forwards off the ice for a line change. Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser didn't listen, and Green was glad.
The pair teamed up to score the game-winning goal in overtime.
Horvat scored at 3:12 of the extra period, off an assist from Boeser, and the Canucks edged the Boston Bruins 2-1 on Saturday night.
"(I was) screaming at them to change then telling them great job after the goal," Green said.
Marchand, Nordstrom score in 36-second span, Bruins win
BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Bruins couldn't stop Edmonton star Connor McDavid. They did shut down the rest of the Oilers.
The Bruins answered McDavid's early goal by scoring three straight in the first period and shut down the frustrated Oilers the rest of the way in a 4-1 victory Thursday night.
"It's hard to stop a guy like that. Sometimes it happens with an early one. You just have to chip away," Boston's David Krejci said. "We responded really well.

Aho scores late to lift Hurricanes over Sabres
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Sebastian Aho made his 100th NHL game was one to remember.
Aho scored with 4:45 remaining to lift the Carolina Hurricanes over the Buffalo Sabres 3-1 on Saturday night.
After going scoreless through the first 15 games, Aho has a goal in three straight.
"I think I'm playing the same way," Aho said. "It's just, you get the first one, it's easier to get. So I think that's just the key."
Slavin, Hurricanes beat Minnesota 5-4 in shootout
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes were a fraction of a second from opening their season with a victory in regulation. As tough as shootouts have been for this team over the years, winning one of those was an even more satisfying way to start.

Slavin recorded his first NHL hat trick, Jeff Skinner and Justin Faulk each scored twice and Carolina beat New York 8-4 to snap the Islanders' 11-game home point streak. Slavin's third goal came late in the third period on a shot that sneaked through the legs of Thomas Greiss.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — It had been a while since Joakim Nordstrom scored a goal, and even longer since Cam Ward shut out an opponent.
Both droughts are over — and now the Carolina Hurricanes are no longer in last place.
Nordstrom scored with 9:12 left, Ward made 22 saves in his first shutout in over a year and the Hurricanes beat the San Jose Sharks 1-0 on Tuesday night for their second straight win.
"It's starting to come together," Carolina coach Bill Peters said.
