Ronaldo recovers from difficult week in Juve’s comeback win
ROME (AP) — Cristiano Ronaldo bounced back from a difficult week by scoring a decisive penalty to help Juventus complete a 2-1 comeback win at Lazio on Sunday.
Juventus was overwhelmed for more than an hour at the Stadio Olimpico but two late goals enabled the Serie A leader to avoid its first loss of the season.
Ronaldo confidently struck his spot kick into the roof of the net three minutes from time — a week after he had a penalty saved during a win over Chievo Verona.

Cristiano Ronaldo was among several regular players who didn't start though defending champion Juventus nevertheless eased into the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup on Saturday.
Juventus, which achieved the league and cup double in the past four seasons, won at Bologna 2-0 and will next face Atalanta or Cagliari.

Ronaldo seemed certain to open his Serie A account in the 75th minute of the 2-0 victory against Lazio.
Cancelo joins Juventus in $46.7 million transfer
TURIN, Italy (AP) — Joao Cancelo, who was left out of Portugal's World Cup squad, has left Valencia for Juventus for a fee of 40.4 million euros ($46.7 million).
The 24-year-old Portugal right-back, who has signed a five-year deal with the Serie A champion, spent last season on loan at Inter Milan.
Juve, which has won seven successive Serie A titles, sold right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner to Arsenal earlier this month.
Icardi sets personal record as Inter beats Cagliari 4-0
MILAN (AP) — Mauro Icardi set a personal record with his 25th Serie A goal of the season as Inter Milan beat visiting Cagliari 4-0 on Tuesday to move into the Champions League places.
Joao Cancelo scored three minutes in at the San Siro then Icardi, Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic added second-half strikes.
Inter moved up to third, two points ahead of Roma and Lazio, which both play Wednesday.
The top four finishers qualify directly for the Champions League.
Portugal starts World Cup qualifying without injured Ronaldo
LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Cristiano Ronaldo will sit out Portugal's first games since it won the European Championship as he continues his recovery from a knee injury sustained in that tournament's final.
The Portugal captain hasn't yet played this season for his club Real Madrid, and wasn't called up on Friday for Portugal's friendly against Gibraltar on Sept. 1, and first World Cup qualifier against Switzerland five days later.
