ATLANTA (AP) — Larry Fitzgerald, Drew Brees and Travis Kelce are among NFL stars rewarding military veterans with trips to the Super Bowl.
Through USAA, they will be joined by Christian McCaffrey, Kirk Cousins, Case Keenum, Falcons coach Dan Quinn and former Browns great Joe Thomas in honoring the veterans for their service.

Browns’ Mayfield racking up awards, leading Browns revival
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Baker Mayfield's reaping rewards for his stellar rookie season.
Cleveland's cocky and charismatic quarterback was voted winner of the Joe Thomas Award — player of the year — on Wednesday by the local chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America. In addition, Mayfield, whose play has sparked the biggest one-season turnaround in club history, was selected AFC Offensive Player of the Week after throwing three touchdown passes in a win over Cincinnati.
Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson out with knee injury
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Right tackle Lane Johnson is inactive for the Eagles against Dallas on Sunday night.
Johnson, an All-Pro last season, has a strained medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Halapoulivaati Vaitai will take his place in the lineup.
Starting cornerback Jalen Mills has a foot injury and was already ruled out.
Linebacker Sean Lee is among several injured players sitting out for the Cowboys. Lee has a hamstring injury and is expected to miss several games.
Chiefs’ Schwartz will return to Cleveland with streak intact
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Mitchell Schwartz was chosen by Cleveland in the second round of the 2012 draft with the idea he could be the next Joe Thomas, or at the very least learn from the Browns' star offensive tackle.
Well, he did learn a lot of lessons. The biggest may have been durability.
Browns undrafted rookie to start at left tackle vs Steelers
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Months ago, Desmond Harrison was confident he'd replace Pro Bowl tackle Joe Thomas.
The Browns only realized it in the past few days.
An undrafted rookie with a checkered past, Harrison will open the season as Cleveland's starting left tackle — a position held down by Thomas, a future Hall of Famer, for more than a decade — on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"I'm replacing Joe, so I know how big it is," Harrison said.
Browns toying with another O-line shift with opener nearing
CLEVELAND (AP) — With barely a week left until the season opens, Browns coach Hue Jackson is still tinkering with his offensive line.
Another shift could be coming.
During a conference call on Friday, Jackson raised the possibility that Joel Bitonio could be on the move again. The team slid him from left guard to tackle during training camp to fill the cavern created when perennial Pro Bowler Joe Thomas retired following last season.

Browns guard Zeitler sidelined with calf injury
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Cleveland Browns starting right guard Kevin Zeitler will miss several weeks of training camp because of a calf injury.
The 28-year-old Zeitler did not practice Thursday, one day after being hurt and walking off the field with a trainer.
"Kevin is going to be OK, but he will be down for a little while," coach Hue Jackson said. "It is unfortunate, but we will get him back. Hopefully, he'll be ready to go in the next couple weeks or so. Those things do happen in training camp."
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Joel Bitonio's sliding only a few feet to his left, but it's a seismic shift for him — and the Browns.
Less than one week into Cleveland's training camp, coach Hue Jackson moved Bitonio from left guard to starting left tackle, a spot vacated when 10-time Pro Bowler Joe Thomas retired in March.
Only days ago, offensive line coach Bob Wylie said switching Bitonio this summer to left tackle was plan "Z."
Well, the Browns went through the alphabet in a flash.
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — The retirement of Joe Thomas left a gaping hole at left tackle for the Cleveland Browns.
Left guard Joel Bitonio is willing, but not necessarily eager to succeed his close friend at the position.
"If they want me to do that, like, cool, whatever makes the Browns better," Bitonio said. "But I think left tackle is the toughest spot on the line, and after playing left guard for four years, going on five now, it would definitely be different.
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Browns have signed offensive lineman Greg Robinson, a 2014 first-round draft pick with the Rams.
The 6-foot-5, 330-pound Robinson was the No. 2 overall pick that year out of Auburn. Robinson failed to live up to expectations with Los Angeles and was traded to Detroit before last season for a sixth-round pick.
Robinson started six games for the Lions before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.
CLEVELAND (AP) — From the start, the Browns took chances in the NFL draft.
After 0-16, what did they have to lose?
Cleveland's selection of polarizing Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield with the No. 1 overall pick was a major surprise, and the Browns followed with another shocker, taking Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward at No. 4 — several slots higher than most mock drafts predicted.

Browns enter third day of draft with 5 picks
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — The Browns will not be on the clock when the NFL draft resumes Saturday.
After picking first on both Thursday and Friday, Cleveland will enter the final day with five selections to help fix a team that went 0-16 last season and hasn't made the playoffs since 2002.
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — The massive hole on the left side of Cleveland's offensive line may be shrinking.
Needing to find a replacement at tackle following the retirement of perennial Pro Bowler Joe Thomas, the Browns used the first pick in the second round of the NFL draft Friday night on Nevada's Austin Corbett, a walk-on who turned into a four-year college starter and is versatile enough to play three positions.
Browns holding 3 picks in second round of NFL draft
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — The Browns will again pick first on Day 2 of the NFL draft.
Cleveland has the No. 33 overall pick, a selection at the top of the second round that has traditionally drawn strong interest for trades. General manager John Dorsey's phone could be active overnight before the Browns are back on the clock Friday night with the first of their three second-round picks.

Maybe even good enough to win a game next season.
On the day one-of-a-kind left tackle Joe Thomas said goodbye after 11 stellar seasons, the Browns took the first steps without their perennial Pro Bowler, a player who might be replaced but never duplicated.

Longtime Cleveland left tackle Joe Thomas spent Thursday morning laying out his recruiting pitch on Twitter.

He's still holding.

Until then, he's made up his mind about Cleveland's coach.
His 11th NFL season — and an historic playing streak — ended by an injury in October, Thomas plans to wait until after the season before deciding to continue a Pro Bowl career that will one day take him to the Hall of Fame.

Thomas will get a $1.5 million roster bonus this season and a $1.5 million increase to his 2018 salary, pushing it to $10.3 million.
Vikings’ midseason report: Second-half questions, unheralded contributors, three toughest matchups
Three unheralded Vikings
You know by now about the stars of the Vikings third-ranked defense and a running game that kept churning even after the loss of rookie Dalvin Cook. Jerick McKinnon is racking up yards and receiver Adam Thielen has brought the long-ball threat back. But what could you have missed? Below weve pinpointed three relatively unheralded reasons for the Vikings 6-2 start:
The NFL trade deadline finally featured some big buzz.
The winless 49ers acquired Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, and the NFL-leading Eagles bolstered a running attack Tuesday with Jay Ajayi from the Dolphins.
The Bills, who at 5-2 are off to their best start since 1993, upgraded their receiving group by acquiring Kelvin Benjamin from the Panthers for their third- and seventh-round picks in next year's NFL Draft.
The NFLs three London games this year all have been lopsided, with two shutouts and a 44-7 score among them. Facing an 0-7 Browns team missing Joe Thomas and Myles Garrett, the Vikings should roll unless something odd happens. Prediction: Vikings 27, Browns 6.
Browns radio analyst, ex-player Dieken to miss London game
CLEVELAND (AP) — Former Browns offensive tackle and current radio commentator Doug Dieken didn't travel with the team to London and will miss his first broadcast in nearly 30 years.

Iron (line)man: Browns’ Thomas a symbol of steady excellence
CLEVELAND (AP) — As Joe Thomas crashed to his knees and grabbed his left arm, instinctively pulling his injured limb tightly to his body while screaming in pain, an audible gasp flowed through the crowd inside FirstEnergy Stadium.
This couldn't be happening. Not to Thomas. Not to Cleveland's unbreakable iron man left tackle.
Vikings’ Everson Griffen bummed he can’t face Browns’ ironman Joe Thomas
LONDON Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen mentioned four times how he really, really wanted to go against Browns 10-time Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas on Sunday.
Instead, hell face Spencer Drango, a second-year backup guard making his first NFL start at left tackle.
Hes a guy who should be playing guard, Griffen said matter-of-factly after Fridays practice at Hazelwood Centre, training ground for the London Irish rugby team.
No NFL team escapes injuries, but Vikings have absorbed them better than their opponents this year
LONDON The Vikings will play their fifth game of October on Sunday, as they look for their fourth win of the month after losing Dalvin Cook on Oct. 1 against the Detroit Lions.
Browns Pro Bowl tackle Thomas undergoes triceps surgery
CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns Pro Bowl tackle Joe Thomas had surgery for his torn left triceps, an injury that ended his consecutive plays streak at 10,363.
Thomas was injured in the third quarter of Sunday's overtime loss to Tennessee. The 10-time Pro Bowler had never missed a snap since he was drafted in 2007 before he was forced to leave the field in pain.
The Browns said head team physician Dr. James Voos at University Hospitals performed the surgery. Thomas is expected to make a full recovery.
