Dunne scores 18, Hartford ties school mark with 19 3s in win
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Jason Dunne scored 18 points, John Carroll had 14 points, and hot-shooting Hartford set a school record with 19 3-pointers in an 86-60 victory over Binghamton on Wednesday night.
Dunne opened the game with a defensive rebound followed by the first of his six 3-pointers. The Hawks raced to an 11-2 lead and never trailed, leading by 20 at one point in the first half and 44-27 at the break after shooting 57 percent and making 12 3-pointers.
Clark, Rizzuto help Albany end skid, beat Hartford 84-77
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Ahmad Clark scored 22 points, Antonio Rizzuto added 21 more and Albany fended off Hartford 80-77 Saturday to break a five-game losing streak.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Christian Lutete scored a career-high 35 points, and Obadiah Noel's jump shot with 54 seconds served as the go-ahead basket and UMass Lowell beat Hartford 76-73 on Saturday.
Lutete made 11 of 18 from the field, including 7 of 12 from 3-point range, Noel scored 23 and Josh Gantz scored 10.
Carroll scores 22 and Hartford rallies past Maine
ORONO, Maine (AP) — John Carroll scored 22 points, including two free throws with .5 seconds remaining, and Hartford defeated Maine 77-76 on Wednesday night.
Carroll's free throws capped a last-minute rally in which Hartford scored eight points in the final 25 seconds and overcame a five-point deficit.
Balanced attack leads Vermont over Hartford 81-62
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Anthony Lamb had 21 points and 12 rebounds and led five Vermont players in double-figure scoring as the Catamounts cruised to an 81-62 victory over Hartford on Saturday night for its fourth straight win.

Texas quarterback Vince Young and Notre Dame speedster Raghib Ismail have been selected for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame, along with 11 other players and two coaches.
Young was the Heisman Trophy runner-up and led the Longhorns to the 2005 national championship with a memorable performance in the Rose Bowl against Southern California. Ismail, better known as Rocket, was an electric receiver and kick returner for the Fighting Irish and the Heisman runner-up in 1990.

Hartford comes home to rout D-III Western New England, 93-53
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — John Carroll and Jason Dunne combined to score 37 points and Hartford used a big first-half run to rout Division-III Western New England, 93-53, and pick up its second victory of the season on Saturday.
The Hawks lost all four games in the MGM Resorts Main Event Tournament, including both games in Las Vegas this week. The game was Hartford's first home game since the season-opening loss to Central Connecticut.
Carroll scores 22, Hartford beats Quinnipiac 68-54
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — John Carroll made 8 of 13 shots and finished with 22 points to lead Hartford to its first victory of the season, beating Quinnipiac 68-54 on Thursday night.
Carroll, who had 14 points in the first half, also pulled down eight rebounds while dishing out three assists for Hartford (1-3). George Blagojevic added 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds with six of those coming on the offensive end. J.R. Lynch chipped in 11 points with eight assists and two steals.
No. 18 Mississippi State beats Hartford 77-59
STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Quinndary Weatherspoon continued his hot start to the season, scoring a season-high 22 points to lead No. 18 Mississippi State to a 77-59 victory over Hartford on Sunday.
Tyson Carter added 14 points for Mississippi State (2-0), and Aric Holman had 12 points and eight rebounds. Nick Weatherspoon had 10 points.

Utah State tops Hartford 100-73 behind Brown’s 24 points
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Dwayne Brown Jr. tied his career high with 24 points and Utah State scored its second straight 100-point game Friday night with a 100-73 win over Hartford.
Sam Merrill and Tauriawn Knight scored 14 points apiece and Quinn Taylor added 12 for the Aggies, who beat Montana State 101-71 in their season opener on Tuesday.
HONOLULU (AP) — Former state Sen. Clayton Hee says he's abandoning his campaign for governor.
Hee said in a statement Monday he can't outspend the other two candidates for the Democratic nomination. Hee says he believes both Gov. David Ige and U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa will spend millions of dollars before the Aug. 11 primary election.
Hee says he can't match the "huge sums of money" his opponents are prepared to spend as well as the political action committees that have formed on their behalf.
UMBC downs Hartford 75-60, faces Vermont in finals
BALTIMORE (AP) — K.J. Maura scored 18 points with three 3-pointers and five assists, Arkel Lamar added 13 points with eight rebounds, and No. 2 seed UMBC beat third-seeded Hartford 75-60 in Tuesday night's America East Conference Tournament semifinal.

Former state senator Hee joins race for Hawaii governor
HONOLULU (AP) — Former state senator Clayton Hee is joining the race to be Hawaii governor.
The Democrat said Tuesday tax dollars should pay for health care, affordable housing and universal preschool instead of projects like Honolulu's planned rail line. He says he's running to stop spending on projects that are "out of control."
Hee was first elected to the state House in 1982, when he represented Molokai, Lanai and west Maui. He represented windward Oahu in the state Senate.
Hartford beats Binghamton 67-57 behind Carroll’s 23 points
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) — John Carroll grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds and scored 23 points and Hartford rallied to beat Binghamton 67-57 on Saturday to win its fourth straight and retain a top-three spot in the America East Tournament.

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Jerome Robinson scored 23 points and Ky Bowman added 21 to lead Boston College over Hartford 73-61 on Saturday.
Jordan Chatman returned the lineup after missing the Nebraska game with a shoulder injury and finished with 12 points. Nik Popovic added 13 points and 11 rebounds.
"They can shoot the ball," Robinson said. "It was tough for us for a little bit, but we ended up pulling it out."
Wagner hot from 3-point line in 72-50 win over Hartford
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Blake Francis, Devin Liggeons and JoJo Cooper each made three 3-pointers and Wagner defeated Hartford 72-50 on Sunday.
The Seahawks (4-1) have won three straight and are off to their best start in Bashir Mason's six-year tenure as head coach.
Francis scored 17 points, Liggeons 14 with six rebounds and Cooper added 13 points with eight assists. The Seahawks shot 48 percent overall and 53 percent (10 of 19) from the arc.

Kentucky signs 3 guards as part of 2018 recruiting class
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky has signed guards Tyler Herro, Immanuel Quickley and Keldon Johnson to national letters of intent.
Rivals and 247 Sports rate the 6-foot-4, 180-pound Quickley among the top 13 nationally and the top three at his position. He averaged 23.7 points and 7.2 assists per game last season for John Carroll School in Bel Air, Maryland, and was part of last summer's Team USA Under-19 World Cup squad led by Wildcats coach John Calipari.

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — John Carroll led a balanced attack with 15 points, Hassan Attia had a double-double and Hartford defeated Division-III Gordon College 80-63 on Sunday.
Attia had 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds. Jack Hobbs, Jason Dunn and reserve Travis Weatherington had 11 points apiece for the Hawks (2-0).
Behind the 6-foot-10 Attia, who had two blocks, Hartford had 36 points in the paint and limited the Fighting Scots to 18.
Hartford holds on, beats Central Connecticut St. 85-84 in OT
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — John Carroll, who had a career-high 26 points, hit a late jumper in the extra period to give Hartford just enough cushion to hold off Central Connecticut State for an 85-84 overtime win on Friday night.
Carroll's jumper gave Hartford an 81-79 lead with 1:28 remaining. Jack Hobbs and Travis Weatherington made four straight free throws to seal the win. CCSU's Tyler Kohl hit a trey in the last second for the final score.
Schatz secures 1st full term in US Senate
HONOLULU (AP) — U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz won re-election Tuesday, easily defeating his Republican opponent John Carroll in heavily Democratic Hawaii.
The win gives Schatz his first full term in the U.S. Senate.
"I'm honored by the support that the people of Hawaii have shown me," Schatz told the AP in a telephone interview Tuesday. "We've got tremendous work to do in terms of healing the divisions that were exposed during the campaign and on Election Day, but I'm ready to get to work."
