Bringing John Kuhn back off of injured reserve essentially gives Saints an extra player
The decision to designate John Kuhn for activation off of injured reserve was done in part to get the veteran fullback practicing again.
New Orleans has 21 days to decide whether or not to put Kuhn on the active roster.
"We essentially get a 54th body," Saints coach Sean Payton said. "I know that he wants to play and wants to continue his career."
Kuhn, who has been working with the coaching and scouting staffs while injured in preparation for the eventual end of his career, wants to keep playing.
Saints’ Kuhn on injured reserve, Snead activated
LONDON (AP) — The New Orleans Saints have placed veteran fullback John Kuhn on injured reserve, ending his season.
The move comes after Kuhn missed practice on Thursday because of a biceps injury.
The Saints are in London this week, where they'll play Miami on Sunday. Being overseas could complicate the process of bringing in a new fullback, but the Saints also could have a couple of tight ends with the versatility to fill in at the fullback spot if needed.
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Adrian Peterson is learning what it's like to play in an offense that won't feature him.
Then again, this is exactly what arguably the greatest running back of his generation signed up for when he agreed to play with the New Orleans Saints and prolific passer Drew Brees.
Saints’ Breaux, Bucs’ Cherilus, Dotson, Gholston ruled out
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Saints have ruled out cornerback Delvin Breaux for their home finale Saturday against Tampa Bay, while the Buccaneers have announced they'll be without defensive end Gholston, and offensive tackles Gosder Cherilus and Demar Dotson.
Breaux injured his shoulder at Tampa Bay on Dec. 11 and has not played since. Gholston has been nursing an elbow injury, while Cherilus has been bother by his groin and ankle, and Dotson has concussion symptoms.
Banged-up Saints thankful for early bye this season
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Time will tell if the stunning comeback the New Orleans Saints' pulled out before getting this week off will be a confidence-building turning point or a mere reprieve from an otherwise miserable season.
"It's too early to make judgments already," said Saints fullback John Kuhn, who scored three TDs, including the winner last weekend. "It's going to be nice to take this momentum into the bye, get healthy, come back, kind of get refocused."
After much-needed breaks, the Saints get to take a break
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Saints fullback John Kuhn plans to stay in New Orleans during his team's Week 5 bye and try to get his first real taste of life in the Big Easy.
That option became a lot more attractive after he scored three touchdowns in the Saints' first victory of the season in San Diego.
"I won't feel like I have to have a hood up at all times," said Kuhn, who joined the Saints in August and knows what it's like to mingle with a passionate fan base from his nine seasons with Green Bay.
