South’s free throw lifts Texas A&M-CC over Northwestern St.
NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) — Kareem South scored 19 points, including the game-winning free throw, Elijah Schmidt blocked a potential game-tying shot at the buzzer, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beat Northwestern State 62-61 on Wednesday night.
Emmanuel Toney added 15 points for the Islanders (7-9, 2-1 Southland Conference), who made 12 of 19 free throws.
Lane, Owens lead Northwestern State in 84-64 win
NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) — Ishmael Lane scored 11 of his 17 points in the first half, Larry Owens added 14 points with six rebounds, and Northwestern State beat Division III Louisiana College 84-64 on Tuesday night.
DeAndre Love scored 10 points for the Demons (4-8), who turned it over 23 times, but outrebounded the Wildcats 50-35, led by seven boards apiece from Lane and Dalin Williams.
Brooks, bench spark Houston rout of Northwestern St, 82-55
HOUSTON (AP) — Armoni Brooks scored 16 points and three teammates came off the bench to score 13 point each as Houston routed Northwestern State, 82-55 in the Men Against Breast Cancer Cougar Cup Monday night.
The victory was the Cougars' 18th straight win on their home court, tying Charleston for second place behind South Dakota State for longest active home court win streak.
Childs’ double-double leads BYU past Northwestern St. 82-57
PROVO, Utah (AP) — Yoeli Childs scored 18 points and collected 15 rebounds and BYU beat Northwestern State 82-57 on Tuesday night.
Laterrance Reid's jumper brought Northwestern State within 20-19 before Connor Harding buried a 3-pointer, Childs threw down a dunk and Jashire Hardnett buried a 3 as part of an 8-0 BYU run. The Cougars closed out the first half with a 10-0 run, led 42-25 at intermission and were never threatened. BYU started the second half with another 8-0 run for a 25-point lead.
