The league announced the $2,500 fine on Friday.
The slashing occurred 17:51 into the third period of Calgary's 4-1 win Thursday night at Winnipeg. Byfuglien was assessed a minor penalty.

Seguin scored 24 seconds into overtime, with an assist from Benn, to give the Dallas Stars a 4-3 victory over Calgary on Wednesday night.

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Sam Bennett is taking advantage of increased playing time.
Bennett had the go-ahead goal and an assist, and the Calgary Flames scored five times in the first period again to beat the Winnipeg Jets 6-3 on Wednesday night.
Calgary took the lead for good at 8:20 of the first when Bennett ripped a 25-foot wrist shot into the top corner for his second goal in two games. Next shift out, he combined with TJ Brodie to set up a goal by Matthew Tkachuk.

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Johnny Gaudreau matched a career-high with four points, all in the first period, and found a spot in the Calgary Flames' record book.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Mike Smith and Calgary's defenders were plenty busy in Smith's 37th career shutout.
Smith made 43 saves and Sean Monahan scored twice to lead the Flames to a 3-0 victory over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.
Elias Lindholm also scored and Johnny Gaudreau assisted on all three goals for Calgary, winners of two of three.
The loss was Nashville's first after a pair of road wins to open the season.

Lindholm scored his first two goals with Calgary and the Flames scored four unanswered goals in the third period for a 7-4 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night.
The Swede, acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes in a trade at the June draft, scored a power-play goal that was the eventual game-winner at 14:28 of the third period.

Yamamoto got his second of the game early in the third period, tapping a goalmouth feed from Drake Caggiula behind goalie Mike Smith to complete the scoring. Yamamoto has six goals in six exhibition games.
Calgary signed forward James Neal to a five-year, $28.75 million contract on Monday, giving Johnny Gaudreau and the rest of the Flames a much-needed scoring boost.

They didn't, and they didn't.
Gaudreau scored the go-ahead goal and set up Monahan's second of the game, and the Flames won their third straight with a 3-2 decision on Thursday night.

CHICAGO (AP) — Michael Stone shot the puck and it ended up in the back of the net. That was Stone's story, and those were the most important details for the Calgary Flames.

Alex Ovechkin has hardest shot at skills competition
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Alex Ovechkin had already clinched the hardest shot title at the NHL All-Star game skills competition before taking his final shot.
All that was left was to try to top 100 mph, and Ovechkin did it.
The Washington star was the only player the break the century mark Saturday night, coming on his second try. Ovechkin's first attempt went 98.8 mph.
"Why not?" Ovechkin said, smiling. "And, I did. Of course it's special to get that type of win."
Phil Kessel's not an all-star, but he is one of the NHL's three stars of the week.
Recording two goals and five points in two Penguins victories over the weekend, Kessel earned third star honors as the league handed out its weekly awards Monday. He netted the game-winning goal in both games.
