Sauter won for the fourth time in a truck at Martinsville. This win, in the opening race of the series' round of six, was good for one of the four slots in the Nov. 16 season finale. It gave the Sauter the most victories in the series at the Virginia track.

Justin Haley races to first NASCAR Truck victory
MADISON, Ill. (AP) — Justin Haley won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race Saturday night at Gateway Motorsports Park for his first career victory, pulling away on a wild last restart.
"I've been dreaming about this day since I was a little kid," Haley said.
The 19-year-old Haley, from Winamac, Indiana, took the lead when Kyle Busch Motorsports teammates Noah Gragson and Todd Gilliland made contact racing for the lead on a restart with seven laps to go.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Johnny Sauter held off Stewart Friesen in a three-lap shootout at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday night for his fourth NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory of the season and 21st overall.
Sauter matched his season high for victories in only the eighth event of the season. The 40-year-old Wisconsin driver won for the fifth time on the 1 1/2-mile oval.
CONCORD, N.C. (AP) — Johnny Sauter raced to his third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory of the season Friday night, winning for the first time in his career at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Sauter led a restart with 10 to go, quickly built a large lead and cruised to his 20th career victory. Brett Moffitt and Justin Haley were battling for second, but made contact that nearly sent Haley into the wall.
"We won at Charlotte!" Sauter said on the radio. "This is the biggest of my life."
DOVER, Del. (AP) — Johnny Sauter led for 137 laps, battled a teenager down the stretch and held off a fellow 40-something in a two-lap overtime restart for his second straight victory in the Truck Series race at Dover International Speedway.
Sauter narrowly split two spinning trucks with 20 laps to go and briefly lost the lead on the final regulation restart to 19-year-old Noah Gragson. But the two collided while battling for the lead with two laps remaining and Gragson backed hard into the wall.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Kyle Busch won his hometown NASCAR Truck race Friday night at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for his 50th series victory.
Busch took advantage when Brett Moffitt, last week's winner in Atlanta, went sideways with 26 laps left. Busch, who had been fighting to overtake Moffitt in the final stage, took control on a restart with 12 laps to go.
Moffitt pushed Busch on the final laps, but Busch held off Moffitt — who got caught up in lapped traffic with less than five laps left.
Sauter dedicates Truck Series win at Daytona to crew chief
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Johnny Sauter wanted to win this race, maybe as badly as any other.
Sauter won the season-opening NASCAR Truck Series race Friday night and dedicated it to crew chief Joe Shear Jr., whose wife died unexpectedly in late December.
"I didn't have one nerve," said Sauter, who finished second in points in 2017. "I just felt like this was our day."
The team felt like it had some help. Chandra Shear died Dec. 28 at her home in Mooresville, North Carolina, age 43.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Austin Cindric returned to his hauler and found a scrum of drivers more ready to rumble than make small talk about championship weekend.
Cindric is racing for a NASCAR Truck Series championship — and, perhaps, racing just to finish the race. His aggressive driving last weekend at Phoenix ticked off enough drivers that he is facing threats of revenge.

Nemechek took four new tires during the final caution. The gamble paid off, as he passed leader Johnny Sauter soon after a restart.
The 20-year-old Nemechek raced to his fifth career victory, driving the No. 8 Chevrolet for his father, former NASCAR Cup driver Joe Nemechek. He won last week at Gateway in Madison, Illinois.
MARTINSVILLE, Va. (AP) — Chase Elliott had spent lap after lap pursuing race-leader Christopher Bell, trying to find, or create, a way around him.
Turned out, he didn't have to do a thing.
Elliott grabbed the lead when Bell wiggled with 17 laps to go and held off teammate Johnny Sauter to win the NASCAR truck race at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday.

Sauter won the inaugural Chase in the Camping World Truck Series with a strong third-place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He beat Matt Crafton, Christopher Bell and Timothy Peters in a race in which the highest-finisher among the four drivers would win the championship.
