Utah State routs North Texas 52-13 in New Mexico Bowl
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Utah State walked into the New Mexico Bowl with one of its best records in school history but uncertainty. Its head coach, Matt Wells, left to take the Texas Tech job. Interim coach Frank Maile had to prepare the Aggies with an army of graduate assistants and an announcement a new coach was coming next month.
North Texas, meanwhile, was coming into Albuquerque with experienced coach Seth Littrell and highly touted quarterback Mason Fine.

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — A record-setting performance moved Utah State one step closer to playing for the Mountain West Conference championship.
The 14th-ranked Aggies totaled 804 yards of offense and 33 first downs on their way to a 62-24 win over San Jose State on Saturday. They broke a school record for yardage and became just the 17th team in NCAA history to gain at least 800 total yards in a game.

Love was 23 of 32 in the first half when the Aggies (7-1, 4-0 Mountain West Conference) piled up 557 yards and took a 52-5 lead. He threw two incomplete passes early in the second half before Hendry Colombi finished up and was 7-of-8 passing for 68 yards.

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Jordan Love passed for a score and ran for another, Gerold Bright and LaJuan Hunt each had scoring runs, and Utah State beat Hawaii 38-0 on Saturday to become bowl eligible for the sixth time in seven years.

It’s fair to say Jordan Love’s first career start as Utah State’s quarterback was an undeniable success.
The redshirt freshman was rewarded accordingly as he was selected as the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Love completed 19 of 27 passes for 316 yards and two touchdowns, vs. zero interceptions, in USU’s 52-28 road triumph over UNLV last Saturday.

LaJuan Hunt added three more touchdowns and had 101 yards with 16 carries as Utah State (4-4, 2-2 Mountain West Conference) piled up 578 yards of total offense to snap a two-game skid. Dominik Eberle had a 24-yard field goal and Justen Hervey capped the scoring with a 7-yard touchdown run to cap a 94-yard drive set up by Dallin Leavitt's interception.
