Former House lawmakers join Washington lobbying firm
WASHINGTON (AP) — The former New York congressman unseated by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is going to work for a powerhouse lobbying firm.
Squire Patton Boggs announced Tuesday that Joseph Crowley has joined its global public policy practice. Crowley chaired the House Democratic Caucus and was once considered a possible successor to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi before losing to Ocasio-Cortez in New York's Democratic congressional primary.
Resident alleges discrimination at retirement home
NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — A 73-year-old man is suing the owners of a Massachusetts retirement home, saying they illegally pressured him to leave his home.
Joseph Crowley's lawsuit against Whitinsville Retirement Home in Northbridge is being brought under the federal Fair Housing Act, state anti-discrimination laws and other laws.
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign paid $1,500 fine to NY state
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The campaign of U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been fined $1,500 for not having the required workers' compensation for a month last year.
A spokeswoman for the New York state Workers' Compensation Board, Melissa Stewart, said Friday that Ocasio-Cortez's Democratic campaign lacked coverage from March 31 to April 30.
She says the fine, first reported by the New York Daily News, has been paid.

NEW YORK (AP) — Newly-minted Democratic star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Thursday endorsed Zephyr Teachout for New York State Attorney General in front of Wall Street's Charging Bull statue.
Both candidates spoke of the need to clean up politics in the state to benefit the working class.

NEW YORK (AP) — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the insurgent Democrat who beat 10-term congressman Joseph Crowley in a primary last month, is now criticizing him for not getting his name off the ballot in the general election.
Despite his loss in New York's Democratic primary, Crowley's name will still be on the ballot as the candidate of the lesser-known Working Families Party in November.

CHICAGO (AP) — The American Dental Association wants dentists to drastically cut back on prescribing opioid painkillers.
The association announced a new policy Monday that "essentially says eliminate opioids from your arsenal if at all possible," said Dr. Joseph Crowley, the group's president. The Chicago-based group represents around 161,000 dentists.

DANBURY — Four Immaculate High School students received Scholastic Arts Awards from the Connecticut Art Education Association.
Class of 2018 seniors Adriana Chamberlin of Bethel, Joseph Crowley of Ridgefield, Ilona Ludanyi of Newtown and Feiyan Nancy Yue of Danbury were honored for their original artwork, the school announced Thursday.
Former UNR President Joseph Crowley dead at 84
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Joseph Crowley, the longest-serving president in the history of the University of Nevada, Reno, has died. He was 84.
His daughter Theresa Crowley said he died in Reno after being hospitalized earlier this month with pneumonia.

Queens Congressman Joseph Crowley and three other New York Democrats held a press conference Sunday at City Hall to discuss the proposal.
The lawmakers say their legislation would allow undocumented workers who assisted at Ground Zero to pursue citizenship.
