Snell runs wild, No. 16 Kentucky holds off No. 13 Penn State
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Winning 10 games, beating Penn State on New Year's Day, and finishing in the Top 20 is no small deal for the Kentucky Wildcats.
So when Mark Stoops took a seat on the podium flanked by linebacker Josh Allen and running back Benny Snell Jr. after Tuesday's 27-24 victory in the Citrus Bowl, the coach understandably was beyond excited.
"It was extremely important to this team, to all of us, to come home with some hardware, to come home with a trophy," Stoops said.

Bills QB Allen seeks better finish in rematch against Miami
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Josh Allen has unfinished business he'd like to attend to before the rookie quarterback's season comes to a close this weekend.
Specifically, Allen is still stung by how he came oh-so-close to beating AFC East rival Miami in his first meeting, a 21-17 loss for Buffalo four weeks ago.
"I relived it a few times. It's one of those plays where it (stinks)," Allen said.
AFC Beast: Pats’ divisional dominance still drives opponents
FOXBOROUGH, MASS. (AP) — The New England Patriots have set a benchmark for divisional dominance in the NFL for nearly two decades.
Their mastery of the AFC East with coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady leading the way — 10 straight titles and 16 in 19 seasons since 2000 — has proven to be somewhat of a double-edged sword for its division opponents.
It's the curse that haunts them and the engine that drives them.
Loss spoils Bills rookie Allen’s first meeting with Brady
Josh Allen had mixed emotions after an inconsistent performance in his first meeting with boyhood idol Tom Brady.
"I wanted to beat him, for sure," the Bills rookie quarterback said following Buffalo's 24-12 loss at New England on Sunday. "He's one of the greatest to ever do it and as a young kid growing up, I never thought I'd get the opportunity to be on the same field as him.
"So it's a cool feeling. But at the same time, I was focused on winning a football game."

Allen leads Bills to 14-13 win over Lions
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — After putting the Bills ahead with his arm, Josh Allen sealed Buffalo's 14-13 victory over the Detroit Lions with his leaping legs.

That's the way fullback Patrick DiMarco described Allen's 2-yard leap to convert a fourth-and-1 at the Lions 41 with 1:47 remaining.

Miscues cost Bills in 27-23 loss to New York Jets
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Coach Sean McDermott knows the Buffalo Bills aren't going to win too many more games if they keep allowing opponents to start drives at midfield — or beyond.
"That wasn't part of the game plan, for them to start at the 48," McDermott said, sarcastically.
Three turnovers by rookie quarterback Josh Allen, coupled with a series of special teams coverage breakdowns led to the Bills squandering a 14-3 lead in a 27-23 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday.
Darnold leads Jets to 27-23 win over Allen, Bills
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Sam Darnold had difficulty containing his excitement after the New York Jets rookie enjoyed his first fourth-quarter comeback victory in the NFL.

Penalties, errors spoil Allen’s big day for Bills

Dolphins can’t catch Allen but overtake Bills, 21-17
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — For Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake, the game's final play was like too many others, and spent chasing Josh Allen.
Zigzag scrambling by the Buffalo Bills' rookie quarterback sent Wake running to his right and then his left and then his right again, with the playground pursuit ending only when Allen stopped and made a desperation fourth-down heave to the end zone.
"You're winning at getting to the quarterback," Wake said. "It's just that he wouldn't cooperate."
Phillips penalty hurts as Bills lose to Dolphins 21-17
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Jordan Phillips' eagerness to get the last word backfired on the Buffalo Bills.

Bills trending upward as they renew rivalry with Dolphins
MIAMI (AP) — The season is heading in opposite directions for the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills, which has brought them closer together in the AFC East standings.
