Brewers reach $5,125,000 deal with Knebel for 2019
MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a $5,125,000 deal for 2019 with reliever Corey Knebel.
The Brewers avoided arbitration with all their remaining players who were eligible, including Knebel, who went 4-3 with a 3.58 ERA and 16 saves last year in an injury-shortened season. He had 39 saves in 2017.
Milwaukee also reached one-year deals with third baseman Travis Shaw ($4,675,000) and pitchers Alex Claudio ($1,275,000), Zach Davies ($2.6 million) and Junior Guerra ($2,225,000).
Brewers look to bright future after NLCS loss to Dodgers
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Christian Yelich and the Milwaukee Brewers think they're just getting started.
Sure looks that way, too.
Led by breakout performances by Yelich, Josh Hader and Jesus Aguilar, Milwaukee chased down the Chicago Cubs to win the NL Central for the first time since 2011. The youthful Brewers then swept Colorado in the Division Series before taking the Los Angeles Dodgers all the way to Game 7 in the NL Championship Series.
Brewers’ bullpen runs out of gas in Game 7 loss to Dodgers
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Craig Counsell and the Milwaukee Brewers relied on their bullpen all season long.
Those hard-throwing relievers finally ran out of gas in the NL Championship Series.
Josh Hader was brilliant as usual, but Jeremy Jeffress was tagged for a crucial three-run homer by Yasiel Puig and the Brewers never recovered, losing 5-1 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 7 on Saturday night.
Friday’s Sports in Brief
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Jesus Aguilar and the Milwaukee Brewers forced the NL Championship Series to Game 7, bolting to a big lead and handing it to their dominant bullpen in a 7-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.
Aguilar hit a two-run double in the Brewers' four-run first inning against Hyun-Jin Ryu and added a late RBI single that helped the Brewers even the matchup at three games each.
LEADING OFF: Dodgers-Brewers in Game 7 of NLCS, Red Sox wait
A look at what's happening around the majors today:
The Dodgers and Brewers meet in an all-or-nothing matchup at Miller Park to decide the NL Championship Series. Los Angeles will start 24-year-old rookie Walker Buehler, who showed flashes of brilliance this season but has not fared well in his two playoff starts. Jhoulys Chacin is set to pitch for Milwaukee — the journeyman had a career year and has done even better in the postseason, pitching 10 1/3 shutout innings in two starts.
Aguilar, Brewers beat Dodgers 7-2, send NLCS to Game 7
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Ryan Braun slid across home plate and raised his arms in sheer joy.
A big lead, a bruising bullpen and a boisterous crowd have the Milwaukee Brewers all set up for Game 7.
Jesus Aguilar sparked Milwaukee's slumping lineup with three RBIs on a pair of two-out hits, and the Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-2 on Friday night to even the NL Championship Series at three games each.
Brewers’ bullpen showing cracks against Dodgers
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Told he had the day off after pitching three shutout innings in the NL Championship Series opener, hard-throwing Milwaukee left-hander Josh Hader wasn't expecting a call to the bullpen.
After watching Brewers relievers blow a late three-run lead in Game 2, Hader would have embraced back-to-back outings, high pitch count and all.
"Adrenaline can do a lot things," he said when asked if he could have pitched.
Reliever Woodruff’s homer stuns Kershaw, Brewers take Game 1
MILWAUKEE (AP) — The high-five at the plate from Brandon Woodruff nearly took out Lorenzo Cain.
It's not often that reliever hits a home run.
Batting left-handed. Off lefty Clayton Kershaw. In the playoffs.
Woodruff stunned the ace with an early home run and Milwaukee's normally shutdown bullpen held on — barely — as the Brewers beat the sloppy Los Angeles Dodgers 6-5 Friday night in Game 1 of the NL Championship Series.

Brewers sweep Rockies, advance to 1st NLCS since 2011
DENVER (AP) — The 38-year-old journeyman catcher looked to his left and spotted his Milwaukee Brewers teammates spilling out of the dugout. Erik Kratz then looked straight ahead and saw his reliever standing alone.
So he took off for Josh Hader to give him, "the biggest hug. ... Because you celebrate all your celebrations. Because you never know if you're going to get another one," Kratz said.
LEADING OFF: Brewers go bullpen, Dodgers send out Ryu
A look at what's happening around the majors today:
OPENER FOR THE OPENER
The Brewers will begin their NL Division Series against the Rockies with a bullpen game at Miller Park. Manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday he had not decided on the order of his relievers. The group will almost certainly include All-Star left-hander Josh Hader, though Colorado will have a tough test start to finish — Milwaukee led the majors with a 1.98 bullpen ERA in September.
Brewers clinch playoff spot, sweep Cards 2-1; Cubs also in
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Fortunately for the Milwaukee Brewers, they didn't slip up.
The Brewers clinched their first playoff spot since 2011 by ensuring at least a spot in the NL wild-card game, helped Wednesday night when a rookie St. Louis pinch-runner suddenly fell on his way to the plate in a 2-1 win over the contending Cardinals.
Brewers beat Cubs 5-1 to move within 1 game in NL Central
CHICAGO (AP) — Although the Milwaukee Brewers still trail in the NL Central, they believe the pressure has shifted to the first-place Cubs.
Curtis Granderson homered, tripled and scored three runs, Lorenzo Cain added three hits and the Brewers beat Chicago 5-1 on Wednesday night to move within a game of the division lead.
Granderson finished with three hits and Mike Moustakas had a two-run single for Milwaukee, which took two of three at Wrigley Field.
Braun, Moustakas, Hader deliver big in Brewers’ win
ATLANTA (AP) — Ryan Braun's spectacular catch in left field was just what the Milwaukee Brewers needed with another potential loss looming.
With a runner on second base and the Brewers down one run to the Braves with two outs in the seventh inning, Braun ran hard to his right and dove to rob pinch-hitter Ender Inciarte of extra bases.
Milwaukee followed up Braun's play with a three-run eighth and got a 4-2 win over Atlanta on Saturday night that will help its NL playoff chances.
Margot, Reyes rally Padres past Brewers 11-5
MILWAUKEE (AP) — San Diego rookie Franmil Reyes is getting less of a kick at the plate these days. The Padres are OK with that.
Reyes homered for the second straight game and doubled in the go-ahead runs off All-Star Josh Hader as the Padres overcome an early deficit and beat the Milwaukee Brewers 11-5 Tuesday night.
Manuel Margot homered, tripled, singled and drove in five runs for San Diego. Reyes, called up Saturday after two earlier stints with the Padres, also added a single.
NEW YORK (AP) — At 13, Charlie Fish in Cincinnati has just been given the parental go-ahead to use social media for the first time. He's also a competitive golfer, avid "SportsCenter" watcher and well aware of the attention received by offensive tweets posted years ago by some Major League Baseball players, some when they were teenagers themselves.
But is he old enough and mature enough to put all of those things together?
