Things to watch in the Atlantic Coast Conference in Week 6:
Willis leads Virginia Tech to 31-14 upset of No. 22 Duke
DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Virginia Tech's offense hummed right along with backup quarterback Ryan Willis. The defense barely resembled the leaky group that took the blame for a humiliating loss.
There wasn't anything wrong with these Hokies that another trip to Duke couldn't fix.
Willis threw for 332 yards and a career-best three touchdowns in his first start for the Hokies, helping them upset No. 22 Duke 31-14 on Saturday night.
QB Jones back for No. 22 Duke after breaking collar bone
DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Quarterback Daniel Jones will start for No. 22 Duke against Virginia Tech, three weeks after breaking his collar bone.
Team officials on Saturday announced that Jones will start later that night for the Blue Devils (4-0) in their Atlantic Coast Conference opener against the Hokies (2-1, 1-0).

Hokies’ QB Josh Jackson to have surgery; return uncertain

No. 13 Hokies well rested for road matchup vs Old Dominion
Virginia Tech is finally getting back on the football field after an unexpected week off because of Hurricane Florence, and the No. 13 Hokies are eager to see if the extra work they did will pay off.

Peoples, Jackson sharp; No. 12 Hokies beat Tribe 62-17
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Justin Fuente said he was worried how his team would handle a quick turnaround.

Jackson’s 2 TD passes help Virginia Tech handle FSU 24-3
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Virginia Tech and coach Justin Fuente notched another season-opening victory against a ranked team.
Florida State and Willie Taggart delivered the program's most inept offensive performance at home in a decade, hardly the start Taggart had hoped for with the Seminoles.
Needless to say, it was easy to tell which Atlantic Coast Conference heavyweight looked like a title contender Monday night.
Jackson, offense may need to carry load for No. 20 Hokies
Josh Jackson has been getting ready since January, watching film of No. 19 Florida State's defense in preparation for Virginia Tech's opener on the road Monday night.
That's good news for the No. 20 Hokies, who may need the offense to carry the early load in Tallahassee, Florida.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Trips to Las Vegas feel better when they end on a win.
The consolation round of the NBA Summer League gave teams a chance to experience that Friday. They had already been eliminated from the chance to win the tournament championship, but at least some can head to the airport on a high note.
Many of the top performers on the teams who played Friday were already done for the week, sitting out the games so as not to risk injuries.
PHOENIX (AP) — Trevor Ariza has agreed to a one-year, $15 million contract with the Phoenix Suns, a person with knowledge of the situation said Sunday.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the agreement cannot be officially announced during the free agent moratorium.
NEW YORK (AP) — Philadelphia's Ben Simmons and Utah's Donovan Mitchell are unanimous selections to the NBA's All-Rookie team.
The two guards received all 100 first-place votes from a panel of sports writers and broadcasters. Both players helped their teams reach the second round of the playoffs.
Boston's Jayson Tatum also was selected Tuesday to the first team, falling one vote short of unanimous. Simmons, Mitchell and Tatum are the three finalists for the NBA's Rookie of the Year award.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — For a host of rookies, the road to a spot on the Green Bay Packers' roster began on Friday. While what they did during the first of two post-draft rookie orientation camp practices won't decide their fates, coach Mike McCarthy believes a good start is vital for them all.

Young defensive ends give Virginia Tech reason for optimism in spring game
BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech’s defense didn’t record a safety last season, but it got one two quarters into Saturday’s annual spring game when sophomore defensive end Emmanuel Belmar shed a block and swallowed up Josh Jackson in the end zone.
And while spring safeties aren’t worth much, aside from the 2 points that went up on the scoreboard during the glorified scrimmage, Belmar’s big play could indicate the Hokies have options at end for the 2018 season.
PHOENIX (AP) — On track to finish with their worst record since their inaugural season 50 years ago, the Phoenix Suns finally closed out an opponent and won again.
Josh Jackson scored 18 of his 28 points in the first half and the Suns ended a franchise-record, 15-game losing streak with a 97-94 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.
"It was a win that we really, really wanted," Jackson said.
BLACKSBURG – With a year of starting experience behind him now, Virginia Tech sophomore quarterback Josh Jackson has a much-improved handle on the team’s offensive scheme.
But what really makes Jackson feel a bit more comfortable here in his third year of spring ball with the Hokies is his grasp of Bud Foster’s vaunted and venerable defense.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — When Ricky Rubio was shoved to the floor twice, it didn't take long for the rest of his Utah Jazz teammates to come to his defense.
"On this team, we all love each other, so that makes it easy to stick up for each other," rookie Donovan Mitchell said.
Mitchell scored 23 points to lead the Jazz to a 116-88 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night, their eighth consecutive victory.
