Jaguars release benched veteran safety Barry Church

The Jaguars (4-9) made the move Friday and activated offensive tackle Josh Wells from injured reserve.
Jags turn to former Giants starting OT Flowers vs Steelers
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars are down to their fourth left tackle, starting a player they signed off the streets against Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Coach Doug Marrone says former New York Giants first-round draft pick Ereck Flowers will start in place of Josh Walker, who missed practice all week because of a foot/ankle injury. Walker was listed as doubtful on the injury report Friday. Flowers and Walker alternated series last week at Indianapolis.
Jaguars center Brandon Linder injures knee, out for season
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars center Brandon Linder will have season-ending surgery on his right knee.
Linder injured his knee in Sunday's 29-26 loss at Indianapolis, and coach Doug Marrone said Monday the team captain will be placed on injured reserve.
A third-round draft pick from Miami in 2014, Linder will have missed 26 games in five years. He signed a five-year contract worth $51.7 million in July 2017. It included $24 million guaranteed.
Jaguars PR/KR Mickens on injured reserve, re-sign WR Greene
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed kick returner Jaydon Mickens on injured reserve and re-signed receiver Rashad Greene.
The team announced the roster moves Monday, one day after a 40-7 loss at Dallas. Mickens broke his left ankle returning a punt in the third quarter.
Jaguars sign former Giants 1st-rounder OT Ereck Flowers
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jaguars have signed former New York Giants offensive tackle Ereck Flowers and placed left tackle Josh Wells on injured reserve with a groin injury.
Flowers was waived by the Giants on Tuesday after he failed to live up to lofty expectations. He was the ninth overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. Flowers was moved from left to right tackle this season after the Giants signed Nate Solder, but lost that job to Chad Wheeler after just two games.
Jaguars rule out running back Fournette for game at Cowboys
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have ruled out running back Leonard Fournette for their game at Dallas. It will be the fourth game Fournette has missed this season.

Jaguars LT Cam Robinson out for season with left knee injury
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without left tackle Cam Robinson for the rest of the season because of a knee injury.
Robinson, a second-round draft pick from Alabama in 2017, injured his left knee in the first quarter of Sunday's 31-20 victory against New England and left the locker room on crutches.
Coach Doug Marrone and teammates confirmed Monday that Robinson's season is over.
Jaguars exercise 1-year, $3.5M option on TE Marcedes Lewis
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars look as if they will keep veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis around at least another year.

The 33-year-old Lewis is the longest-tenured player on the team's roster. He is due to make $3.5 million in 2018.
Jaguars LB Smith to miss Colts game because of concussion
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without linebacker Telvin Smith against Indianapolis on Sunday, the first time the team has missed a defensive starter all season.

Jaguars rule out 2 starting offensive linemen vs Cardinals
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without two starting offensive linemen against Arizona on Sunday.
The Jaguars (7-3) downgraded right tackle Jermey Parnell and left guard Patrick Omameh from questionable to out, saying neither player traveled with the team Saturday.
It will be the third missed game in as many weeks for Parnell (knee) and the second straight for Omameh (quadriceps). Both missed practice all week.
After playing football at JMU, many players attempt to play football at the next level. This week, NFL teams made their final cuts to shrink the roster size down to 53 players. Linebacker Arthur Moats will once again be on the Steelers roster for week one, offensive linemen Earl Watson and Josh Wells made the Jacksonville Jaguars roster and tight end Daniel Brown made the Chicago Bears roster.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Calling himself "one of the best experts at playing left tackle in the universe right now," Branden Albert practiced with Jacksonville for the first time Tuesday since the Jaguars traded for him in March.
Albert was admittedly out of shape during his first workout. Although he made it through the two-plus-hour practice without any noticeable issues, he asked for a couple of minutes to cool off before answering questions.

Fowler looks to be key to Jaguars’ defensive makeover
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler has been getting the best of, maybe even embarrassing, offensive linemen for a week now.
There was a nasty spin move against Jermey Parnell, a powerful bull rush against Josh Wells and a freakish first step against Luke Joeckel.
Throw in the first real hit of training camp — his thudding takedown of running back Jonas Gray last week — and Fowler's play has been among the most notable...
