Singletary has 5 TDs as FAU rolls over Bethune-Cookman 49-28
BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Devin Singletary stormed in for a school record five rushing touchdowns in the first half as Florida Atlantic jumped out to an early lead and coasted to a 49-28 victory over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday.
Singletary had 50 yards rushing in the first half and got the call every time the Owls were near the goal line, with his longest scoring run coming from the 18, as Florida Atlantic (2-1) led 29-0 in the first quarter. They were up 36-14 at the half.
Robison has record day, passes FAU past Air Force, 33-27
BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — A year ago, Chris Robison was a redshirting freshman throwing passes to the practice squad guys for FAU coach Lane Kiffin. On Saturday, he was breaking school records.
Robison completed 33 of 40 passes for a school-record 471 yards and three touchdowns and FAU notched its first victory over a service academy, beating Air Force 33-27 in the Owls' home opener.
FAU had lost to Navy twice, the only other times the Owls played a service academy.
No. 22 West Virginia short on proven receivers
West Virginia is jostling to get enough capable targets for quarterback Will Grier to throw to with the season opener less than two weeks away.
With the top two wide receivers gone from last year's team and other problems cropping up, the Mountaineers are looking to Ka'Raun White to take over perhaps the same way his brother, current Chicago Bears receiver Kevin White, did in a big way in his senior season with West Virginia in 2014.
