Pulisic plays 2nd US match in 13 months, starts vs England
LONDON (AP) — Christian Pulisic played his second game with the U.S. national team in 13 months, returning to the lineup for Thursday night's exhibition against England.
The 20-year-old midfielder was part of a five-man midfield in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Weston McKennie and Wil Trapp in deep positions and Julian Green flanked by Pulisic and Tim Weah — a son of former FIFA Player of the Year and current Liberia President George Weah.
Julian Green, Zack Steffen and a young U.S. soccer team showed what might have been — and what could be in 4½ years.
Green scored in the 44th minute, Steffen made seven saves and the Americans held on against tremendous pressure to tie World Cup-bound France 1-1 Saturday night at Lyon.
Sloppy France equalizes late in 1-1 draw with US
LYON, France (AP) — Kylian Mbappe struck a late equalizer as France drew with the United States 1-1 in its final World Cup warmup on Saturday.
The 19-year-old forward reacted swiftly from near the penalty spot in the 78th minute, turning in a cross from right back Benjamin Pavard after he was released down the right flank by forward Nabil Fekir.
France missed several first-half chances and was punished in the 44th when the U.S. scored with its first meaningful attack through forward Julian Green.
Zach Steffen replaced Bill Hamid in goal behind a five-man defensive line as U.S. interim coach Dave Sarachan made five changes for Saturday's exhibition against World Cup-bound France in Lyon.
Defenders Shaq Moore, Tim Parker and Antonee Robinson also were newcomers to the starting lineup along with Julian Green at forward.
Moore was at right back, with Parker joining Cameron Carters-Vickers and Matt Miazga in the middle. Robinson at left back.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Julian Green has been the Halley's Comet of the U.S. national team. He appeared out of nowhere for the 2014 World Cup, scored against Belgium and then pretty much disappeared.
After scoring the goal that saved a German club from relegation to the third division, he's back with a young American group that has no World Cup to prepare for. And he's still only 22.
CHICAGO (AP) — With no World Cup to prepare for, the United States announced a roster devoid of the veterans who failed to qualify for this year's tournament and filled with youth who could take the field 4½ years from now in Qatar.
Midfielder Julian Green returns to the U.S. national team for the first time in two years, joining star midfielder Christian Pulisic in the group picked for the May 28 exhibition against Bolivia at Chester, Pennsylvania, outside Philadelphia.

Green scores again, US settles for 1-1 draw vs New Zealand
WASHINGTON (AP) — After a second exciting performance, U.S. soccer coach Jurgen Klinsmann says 21-year-old winger Julian Green is "back in the picture."
Green scored his second goal in two matches, before Monty Patterson's equalizer forced the U.S. to settle for a 1-1 draw in an exhibition against New Zealand on Tuesday night.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Julian Green made his second consecutive start for the U.S. National Team in Tuesday's exhibition against New Zealand after impressing in a 2-0 victory at Cuba last Friday.

Wondolowski, Green lift US to 2-0 exhibition win at Cuba
When the U.S. arrived in Cuba for its first exhibition game in 69 years at the Caribbean island nation, the Americans were surprised by the conditions at Havana's Estadio Pedro Marrero. The surface was bumpy and filled with brown patches.
"The field was a field that was not playable," U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann said. "On that field, it's impossible to get a higher rhythm, a higher tempo, higher pace."
