MIAMI (AP) — Golden State's Kevin Durant should have been called for a discontinued dribble on the Warriors' final possession of what became their 120-118 win over the Miami Heat, the NBA said Monday in a report detailing all calls made in the last 2 minutes of the game.
Golden State made a pair of free throws on that possession, the final points of the game.
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Miami Heat looked like a different team in the second half Friday night.
Trailing at the break, Miami took over in the final two quarters and defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 100-94.
"The starters have taken some heat, no pun intended, and they wanted to come out and show what they can do," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.
Justise Winslow scored 27 points and Hassan Whiteside had 14 points and 13 rebounds.
MIAMI (AP) — Shelvin Mack drove on Dwyane Wade, with the game on the line.
MIAMI (AP) — Nikola Jokic had 29 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his fourth triple-double of the season, and his basket with 2.4 seconds left put the Western Conference-leading Denver Nuggets ahead to stay in their 103-99 win over the Miami Heat on Tuesday night.
Jamal Murray had 18 points, Trey Lyles added 15, Paul Millsap had 12 and Torrey Craig finished with 11 points and 16 rebounds for the Nuggets.
MIAMI (AP) — For the first time since October, the Miami Heat walked off the court with a winning record.
Hassan Whiteside scored 21 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, Josh Richardson added 18 points and the Heat scrambled in the final minutes to hold off the Washington Wizards 115-109 on Friday night and move to 19-18, getting over the .500 mark for the first time since Oct. 27.
MIAMI (AP) — Justise Winslow is in a groove.
Winslow had 24 points and 11 rebounds and the Miami Heat beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-94 on Friday night.
"You can tell the game is now slowing down for him and once the game slows down for you, it's scary how good you can be. So we all are enjoying it," Heat guard Dwyane Wade said.
MIAMI (AP) — Kawhi Leonard scored 30 points, Danny Green's 3-pointer with 22.7 seconds left put Toronto ahead for good and the Raptors improved the NBA's best record to 26-10 by topping the Miami Heat 106-104 on Wednesday night.
MIAMI (AP) — Danny Green slipped to the right corner, somehow forgotten by the Miami Heat.
He made them pay.
Kawhi Leonard scored 30 points, Green's 3-pointer with 22.7 seconds left — a wide-open one — became the gamewinner, and the Toronto Raptors improved the NBA's best record to 26-10 by topping the Heat 106-104 on Wednesday night.
Toronto has now won three games this season when trailing by 17 points.
"We've always got a chance to come back," Fred VanVleet said.
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — It was a 500 kind of night for the Miami Heat, who got their record back to .500 and delivered coach Erik Spoelstra his 500th coaching victory.
Tyler Johnson scored 20 of his 25 points in the third quarter as Miami defeated the Orlando Magic 115-91 and ran its winning streak to five games.
Justise Winslow added 22 points and Josh Richardson finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for Miami, which beat Orlando for the first time in three tries this season and improved to 16-16.
MIAMI (AP) — This is what Miami coach Erik Spoelstra means when he says he wants everyone involved.
This was one play for the Heat in the final moments Saturday night: James Johnson blocked a 3-point try by Milwaukee's Khris Middleton, the ball ricocheting to Justise Winslow, who knocked it to Josh Richardson, who tipped it to Dwyane Wade, who then tapped it forward to Richardson for a dunk.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — LeBron James scored 28 points and the Los Angeles Lakers survived Dwyane Wade's 15-point performance in the second half of the superstars' probable final on-court meeting for a 108-105 victory over the Miami Heat on Monday night.
PHOENIX (AP) — The depleted Phoenix Suns gave the Heat a little resistance before normalcy was restored, and Miami became the latest team to win in the desert.
Bam Adebayo scored a career-high 22 points, 20 in the first half, and the Heat opened a six-game trip by handing the Suns their eighth straight loss, 115-98, on Friday night.
ATLANTA (AP) — Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic is out for their game at Atlanta due to persistent pain in his right foot.
Dragic is not in uniform Saturday night after a cortisone shot earlier in the week did not provide sufficient pain relief.
Forward Justise Winslow made his first start of the season. Rodney McGruder moved from forward to join Josh Richardson in the backcourt.
MIAMI (AP) — Justise Winslow has agreed to a $39 million, three-year extension with the Miami Heat.
A person with direct knowledge of the agreement confirmed the terms to The Associated Press on Friday night. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because Winslow isn't signing the contract until this weekend.
Later, Winslow confirmed that he would be signing the deal.
NEW YORK (AP) — Miami's Justise Winslow has been fined $15,000 by the NBA for attempting to damage Philadelphia center Joel Embiid's facemask during Game 3 of their playoff series.
Winslow intentionally stepped on Embiid's mask after it had fallen onto the court with 7:51 remaining in the second quarter of the 76ers' 128-108 victory on Thursday night.
MIAMI (AP) — Here were the two primary goals for the Miami Heat on the final night of the regular season: Beat the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, and get Wayne Ellington into the team record book.
Done, and done.
Ellington scored a career-high 32 points while setting Miami's single-season record for 3-pointers, and the Heat wrapped up the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs by beating the Toronto Raptors 116-109 in overtime Wednesday night.
MIAMI (AP) — No matter the opponent, there are two constant principles of the Miami Heat playoff philosophy.
Win at home.
Defend like mad.
There's no playoff berth to officially celebrate yet, but the Heat are getting into that postseason mode. Miami held Chicago to 37 percent shooting on the way to beating the Bulls 103-92 on Thursday night, pushing its home winning streak to a season-best eight games, and cutting the magic number for clinching a playoff spot to one.
MIAMI (AP) — A big lead was slipping away, so the Miami Heat called upon their best offensive option: The 3-point shot.
Just like that, the rout resumed.
Tyler Johnson hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the third quarter to spark the run that put Miami in control for good, Kelly Olynyk finished with 22 points and a career-high 10 assists and the Heat rolled past the New York Knicks 119-98 on Wednesday night.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — De'Aaron Fox made another shot at the buzzer to force overtime. Then Zach Randolph took his turn making the big plays for the Kings.
It wasn't pretty at times, not after Sacramento blew a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter, but it was just enough to keep coach Dave Joerger's club on its mini-roll.
MIAMI (AP) — An easy win still presented the Miami Heat with some potential issues.
James Johnson scored 20 points on 8-for-9 shooting, the Heat piled up 76 points in the paint and rolled past the Washington Wizards 129-102 on Saturday night.
Miami's starting five shot 77 percent, with Johnson and Josh Richardson — the Heat starting forwards — connecting on a combined 14 of their 15 shots.
MIAMI (AP) — The playoff spot is a long way from clinched, and it's not Miami's style to be pleased about anything involving being in eighth place.
That being said, the Heat knew what this win meant.
Kelly Olynyk and Josh Richardson each scored 17 points, James Johnson added 14 and the Heat strengthened their grip on an Eastern Conference postseason berth with a 105-96 over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night.
MIAMI (AP) — After three consecutive narrow defeats and 17 close games in a row, the Miami Heat were in the market for a laugher.
Bring on the Memphis Grizzlies.
Tyler Johnson scored 23 points to lead six players in double figures, and the Heat beat the reeling Grizzlies 115-89 on Saturday night.
The Grizzlies lost their ninth game in a row, the longest active streak in the NBA, and their second in as many nights.
ATLANTA (AP) — Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer keeps encouraging Taurean Prince to shoot more often.
The NBA's worst team needs as much offense as it can get.
"We're wanting him to shoot a lot — catch and shoot, shoot whenever he's got daylight, driving and finishing," Budenholzer said. "I think his defense has improved here recently. He's just in a good place. He's playing well."
Prince scored 24 points, Dennis Schroder added 23 and Atlanta beat the injury-riddled Miami Heat 110-104 on Monday night.
ATLANTA (AP) — Heat guard Goran Dragic was scratched from the starting lineup because of a strained left elbow, leaving Miami with just nine healthy players Monday night against the Atlanta Hawks.
Coach Erik Spoelstra said Dragic tested his elbow before the game, but it was too sore for him to shoot. Dragic leads the Heat with a 16.6 scoring average and has started all 29 of Miami's games. Tyler Johnson started in Dragic's spot.
