On another team that isn't already loaded with veteran running backs, Washington might be the workhouse who has a breakout season. He redshirted as a true freshman last season after arriving from Texas' Kennedale High, where he rushed for more than 5,000 yards and scored 75 touchdowns in his prep career. Washington is third on the depth chart at running back behind senior D.J. Pumphrey and Rashaad Penny, but there are plenty of carries to go around on SDSU's run-oriented offense. The 5-foot-7, 190-pound Washington has tremendous speed, shifty moves and has shown a knack in scrimmages for finding a hole. Fans should get a glimpse of him in the backfield this season, similar, perhaps, to the way Penny was used last season behind Pumphrey and Chase Price. Look for Washington on kickoffs as well, where he could be paired with Penny on the goal line to give SDSU one of the most dynamic kick return duos in the country.
