Tucker scores 24 to lead UALR past South Alabama 73-68
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Rayjon Tucker had 24 points as Arkansas-Little Rock edged past South Alabama 73-68 on Saturday.
Kamani Johnson had 15 points for Arkansas-Little Rock (9-15, 4-7 Sun Belt Conference). Markquis Nowell added 10 points and seven rebounds. Nikola Maric had 10 points and seven rebounds for the visitors.
Rodrick Sikes had 19 points for the Jaguars (12-12, 5-6). John Pettway added 16 points and eight rebounds. Josh Ajayi had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Coastal Carolina holds off late charge by Little Rock 72-71
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Zac Cuthbertson made 1 of 3 free throws with less than two seconds remaining to stop a 12-0 run by Little Rock and Coastal Carolina held off the Trojans 72-71 on Thursday night.
Red-hot Dennis scores 32, UT Arlington defeats Little Rock
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Edric Dennis continued his recent scoring binge with a season-high 32 points and UT Arlington defeated Little Rock 82-73 on Saturday.
The Mavericks went the last 4:32 without a field goal, but it was of little consequence as they made 12 of 14 free throws to finish the victory. UTA was 34 for 39 from the line, with Dennis making 15 of 17.
Burns with 22 points, Little Rock routs South Alabama 91-62
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Deondre Burns scored 22 points with seven rebounds and five assists as Little Rock routed South Alabama 91-62 on Saturday afternoon.
Jaizec Lottie added 17 points for the Trojans (7-10, 2-2 Sun Belt). Nikola Maric had 14 points and Kamani Johnson had 12 points and seven rebounds.
Little Rock shot 61 percent from the field compared to 40 percent for South Alabama.
Nowell scores 16, Little Rock rides hot second half to win
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Markquis Nowell scored 16 points and Little Rock dominated the second half to defeat Troy 73-59 on Thursday night.
Troy led 29-27 at halftime and the game was tied at 37 with 16:35 remaining. Little Rock then went on a 29-12 run and led 66-49 with 4:46 to go. Nowell made three 3-pointers in the run and was 4 of 6 from beyond the arc for the game.
Central Arkansas pulls away from Little Rock for a 78-65 win
CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — DeAndre Jones scored 23 points, dished seven assists and grabbed seven boards as Central Arkansas knocked off Little Rock 78-65 in the first of two Governor's I-40 Showdown battles Wednesday night.
The year-long competition pits the two schools against each other in 11 sports. The basketball win was worth four points to the Bears. Counting fall sports competition, Central Arkansas holds an 18.5-3.5 lead in the first year of the competition.
