Clemson QB Switch: Tigers thrived after freshman’s promotion
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — The choice was clear for Clemson coach Dabo Swinney last September— freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence deserved to start over well-liked, well-respected senior Kelly Bryant.

All eyes on QB Lawrence in No. 4 Clemson-Wake Forest matchup
Trevor Lawrence has yet to play a full game for No. 4 Clemson. The Tigers hope the only reason their freshman quarterback won't finish this one is because it's another blowout of Wake Forest.
Lawrence is expected to make his second start Saturday when Clemson (5-0, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) visits the Demon Deacons (3-2, 0-1).
"I think he got good experience, kind of got that first start out of the way, too, and all the stuff with that," coach Dabo Swinney said. "I think he's in a good spot."

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — This spring was a busy one around the Atlantic Coast Conference — especially for the returning quarterbacks who won division titles last season.
In a conference in which its only new head coach wasted no time getting comfortable in his new position and Louisville developed a replacement for its only Heisman Trophy winner, the main subplot revolved around the seemingly secure QBs who are trying to keep their jobs.
Hunter Renfrow can't walk anywhere around Clemson without the same topic quickly coming up: What's happening at quarterback?
"It's all people want to know about, all the time," said the Tigers' senior receiver.
That's an odd situation for Clemson given it returns a starter in Kelly Bryant who led the team to 12 wins, its third straight Atlantic Coast Conference championship and another spot in the College Football Playoff.
CLEMSON — The Clemson Tigers are back from spring break and counting down to the annual Orange and White game April 14 (2:30 p.m. ESPN).

"As many times as I open up my phone, I don't look at it like, 'Dang, I lost to Clemson.' I don't do that every time," Hurts said. "But it's definitely there, it's definitely a motivating factor and it's always been."
