Utility: Contaminants found beneath 3 Wyoming power plants
CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A utility says groundwater beneath three coal-fired power plants in Wyoming has tested positive for certain contaminants.
The substances include arsenic and cadmium near the Dave Johnston power plant near Glenrock, lead and selenium at the Jim Bridger plant northeast of Rock Springs, and radium at the Naughton plant outside Kemmerer.
The toxins occurred beneath unlined coal-ash disposal ponds. Coal ash is a byproduct of burning coal in power plants.
BLM seeks input on leasing sodium in Sweetwater County
KEMMERER, Wyo. (AP) — The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposal to lease about 5,000 acres (2,023 hectares) for sodium mining of trona in southwest Wyoming.
The three proposed federal lease tracts involved are located in southwest Sweetwater County, about 15 miles (24 kilometers) southwest of Green River.
A Kemmerer judge will preside over Bill Resor’s child pornography case.
An order of assignment was filed Thursday in the 9th Judicial District by Judge Timothy Day. Judge Joseph B. Bluemel of the 3rd Judicial District was assigned to the case.
Resor was arrested in November.
After several continuations of proceedings in Teton County Circuit Court the case is in the higher court, where Resor is to be arraigned March 15.
Wyoming Game and Fish conducting mule deer surveys
PINEDALE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is conducting extensive aerial surveys over the next couple of weeks to get a more accurate count on the number of mule deer in the Wyoming Range Mule Deer Herd.
The surveys involve two helicopters flying over the foothills and deer winter ranges on the east side of the Wyoming Range, winter range complexes north and southwest of Kemmerer, and west side of the Salt River Range in Star Valley.

SOUTH OGDEN - Evelyn Maurice Roberts Chipp, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, in South Ogden, UT. She was 84 years old.
Maurice was born on January 7, 1933, in Kemmerer, WY, to Ted and Stella Smith Roberts. She attended Wyoming schools and graduated from Kemmerer High School.
She married Willard A. Chipp III, on October 19, 1952, and they moved to Ogden in 1954. Together they raised four sons.
