BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Kyle Guy scored 23 points and No. 3 Virginia pulled away in the second half to beat No. 20 Virginia Tech 64-58 on Monday night.
Ty Jerome added 16 points and De'Andre Hunter had 10 for the Cavaliers (23-2, 11-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), who swept the regular-season series with their state rivals and won for the sixth time in their last eight visits to Cassell Coliseum.
Blackshear’s 29 power No. 22 Virginia Tech by Pitt 70-64
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Kerry Blackshear Jr. was mid-answer when the sight of a couple of Virginia Tech teammates recording his postgame interview with phone in hand became a bit too intrusive.
"I'm panicking, boy," Blackshear said. "You've got to get that off me."
It was the first time all day the junior forward looked rattled. Blackshear poured in a season-high 29 points during a near flawless performance to lead the 22nd-ranked Hokies to a 70-64 victory over slumping Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Outlaw leads No. 22 Hokies to 76-68 win over Georgia Tech
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Ty Outlaw admitted that he was excited about the prospect of playing Georgia Tech.
But Outlaw's reasoning wasn't because of the Yellow Jackets' sub-.500 record or their five-game losing streak. Instead, he cited a more tactical reason.
"I love it when they play zone," Outlaw said.
Outlaw did his share of damage against Georgia Tech's zone defense, scoring a season-high 20 points, as No. 22 Virginia Tech defeated the Yellow Jackets 76-68 on Wednesday night.
No. 9 Virginia Tech holds off Georgia Tech 52-49
ATLANTA (AP) — Ahmed Hill scored 15 points, Kerry Blackshear Jr. added 14 points and 10 rebounds, and No. 9 Virginia Tech overcame a terrible shooting performance to beat Georgia Tech 52-49 on Wednesday night.
The Hokies (14-1, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) won their ninth straight game for the school's best start to a season since the 1982-83 team had an identical record. They never trailed after Georgia Tech led in the first minute.
Hill leads No. 10 Hokies in 85-40 rout of Md.-Eastern Shore
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Ahmed Hill thought it was a perfect way to end the nonconference portion of No. 10 Virginia Tech's schedule.
Hill scored 20 points and the Hokies shot nearly 66 percent as they drubbed Maryland-Eastern Shore 85-40 on Friday night for their sixth consecutive victory.
"It's really good for my confidence," Hill said after making 7 of 10 shots overall and 6 of 9 3-point tries. "I just go game to game. Some games, shots fall and some games not, and today it was falling."
Alexander-Walker leads Virginia Tech over North Carolina A&T
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Nickeil Alexander-Walker and No. 13 Virginia Tech have played tough team defense so far this season.
Swimming along quite nicely.
Alexander-Walker scored 12 of his 20 points in the second half, and the Hokies beat North Carolina A&T 82-60 on Wednesday night for their fifth consecutive victory.

Defensive improvement gave Virginia Tech a big lift late in the regular season, helping the Hokies reach the 10-win plateau for the third consecutive season in the rugged Atlantic Coast Conference.
Virginia Tech also made its second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the first time it has done that since 1985-86.
That's the good news. The bad news is the Hokies were eliminated in the first round of the tourney for the second straight year, falling to Alabama 86-83.
Hokies continue winning ways, beat No. 15 Clemson 65-58
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Virginia Tech coach Buzz Williams admitted that he and his team only focus on increments of 24 hours.
"Just be consumed with today," he said.
That approach certainly has been working.

BOSTON (AP) — Virginia Tech got another chance when Boston College's potential game-winner rimmed out at the end of regulation and the Hokies didn't let a lead slip away the second time.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker nailed a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 1:57 left in overtime and finished with 18 points, Justin Bibbs also scored 18 and Virginia Tech beat Boston College 85-80 on Wednesday night despite blowing a seven-point lead in the closing 64 seconds of regulation.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Kerry Blackshear Jr. called Virginia Tech's game against No. 10 North Carolina a "really big character test," coming on the heels of a loss at home against Florida State.
That was a game, Blackshear said, in which the Hokies "really didn't just come to play."
They passed this test with flying colors.
Justin Robinson scored 19 points, Ahmed Hill had 18 and the Hokies pulled away in the second half to beat the Tar Heels 80-69 on Monday night.

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Chris Clarke scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds off the bench on Saturday as Virginia Tech rallied from a 16-point deficit in the second half to defeat Mississippi 83-80 in overtime.
Virginia Tech (7-1) placed five players in double figures, led by Kerry Blackshear Jr. with 17 points. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Justin Robinson had 13 points apiece, while Justin Bibbs added 11. The Hokies have won five consecutive games.

Alexander-Walker, a six-foot-five freshman guard, was 9-of-14 shooting with four 3-pointers. Blackshear was 7 of 10 from the field and made 8 of 10 free throws. Ahmed Hill added 19 points, and Devin Wilson and P.J. Horne chipped in 10 points apiece.
